Mommy's touch vs. Wonderoos - vote for your fave BTP pocket??!!

Want to buy a couple of pockets as I've managed to "misplace" a whole carrier bag full of medium fuzzis that I used on DD I didn't love them but 13 fuzzis cost a lot of money.

Anyway - just looking for opinions on Mommy's Touch and tne Hip Hip Wonderoos?? Are the leg gussets better on the wonderoos? Or are mommy's touch better for a chunky lad as you can buy extenders?

Any quick opinions appreciated, as may want to take advantage of the 3 for 2 wonderoos before the end of the day

Not tried either but a few sellers on ebay are doing 3 for 2 on wonderoos, have been looking too so will check back on this thread!

bagpuss · 31/05/2007 16:26

I haven't used either but I really rate Bumgenius pockets which are also a BTP. In fact I would say they are more reliable than Fuzzis in general.

I prefer the look of Mommy's Touch, but that is because I don't like the wing droop in wonderoos and the mommy's touch look more fuzzi like to me.

Ds does solid poos now but the gussets on the wonderoo look like they will contain a runny poo better than a fuzzi. However large fuzzis fit ds great now, but he is too big for the rise of the wonderoo. Wonderoo is pretty easy to adjust the different size settings.

archiesmummy · 31/05/2007 19:18

I love the look of the Mommy's Touch, especially the prints (soooo cool), but find them awkward to put on.

I love Wonderoos and have replaced most my nappy stash with them.

I just had to buy 6 new ones from babykind (I mean, you just can't have too many, can you??)

As for the extenders tabs, apparently Wonderoos will bring these out soon too I've heard.

nappyzone · 31/05/2007 19:29

I prefer the wonderoo as i find you need some degree in rocket science to figure out how to adjust the mommys touch to a birth nappy but then if going on the large settign straight away then this dont matter. The fact wonderoos are on 3 for 2 is a major bonus though! . I was also told mommys touch are indergoing a redesign which is why i have held on stocking them as i didnt want to be lumbered with an old design iyswim. Mommys touch are good i have had no trouble but i havent with wonderoo provided i use a decent insert. Wish wonderoo would do some patterns!

archiesmummy · 31/05/2007 20:36

Aldo, MTs are slightly bigger (higher rise) so a bit more bulky under trousers, but I think the poppers are "sturdier" if that makes sense.

Still I prefer Wonderoos, and they are 3 for the price of 2 like you pointed out!!!

danceswithbaby · 31/05/2007 20:45

Haven't tried Wonderoos, but MT are good, if a bit fiddly to put on a wriggler. Not great for smaller babies either.

Bumgenius is the best bith to potty nappy imho. Very reliable, much more so than my fuzzis. Also P'tit Dessous are good, if not the tidiest nappy I've ever seen. It's very absorbent and does up a bit like a fuzzy.

amazonianwoman · 02/06/2007 20:17

Thanks all I think I'll order just one of each (+ Bumgenius!) to try

archiesmummy · 02/06/2007 21:07

That's always the best way!

Let us know how you get on. I have never tried Bumgenius so would like to know how they compare to MT and Wonderoos (hopefully not too well or I'll have to buy some )

chatelskier · 02/06/2007 21:54

I've got a brand new MT, which is too fiddly for a tiny fit, so am selling it. I've also got a brand new Wonderoo in Natural colour. If you want them a bit reduced, email me [email protected]

amazonianwoman · 05/06/2007 08:37

Thanks chatel, but I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment, thanks anyway

Bumgenius or Wonderoos are probably best of the offering commonly available in the UK. Don't like Mommys touch as they are v fiddly. Though prefer Haute Pockets to Wonderoos even though they are basically the same they seem to have a tad better fit. personally prefer sized pockets on all but very average height/weight babies as the one size ones can be a bit of a bad fit at either end of the weight range and you end up buying extra nappies anyway.

accessorizewithbabysick · 15/06/2007 20:07

AW, how did you get on with your wonderoo & mommy's touch or was it a bumgenius. I just got a wonderoo & a bumgenius and I'm hard pressed to decide between them, they're so lovely. Can't comment on containment yet. Will velcro pockets be a bit of a problem when ds is a toddler, poppers harder for him to get off?

archiesmummy · 15/06/2007 21:38

accessorizewithbabysick, velcro much easier to get off for my 17 month old DS, he still can't undo the poppers but I'm sure the time will come

But on the other hand velcro is much easier to put on a wriggly toddler
I hope you are loving your wonderoo & a bumgenius I'm still waiting for a bumgenius from the states

nappyzone · 15/06/2007 21:54

im so loving my bumgenius!

Flamesparrow · 15/06/2007 22:54

DS sussed stripping nappies so my BG idea is over

accessorizewithbabysick · 16/06/2007 09:01

Guess I'll have to fund some more wonderoos then! I do like the bg very much tho, very very trim on my 6mo old.

amazonianwoman · 19/06/2007 14:50

AQ - never got round to buying bumgenius or wonderoo or mommy's touch! I did stick DS in an old Nature Babies stuffable for all of 10mins and it leaked wee everywhere, so got a bit disillusioned.

May order some next month though...

OP posts:
accessorizewithbabysick · 19/06/2007 16:08

Oh no, don't be put off! Not that I've tried a nature's baby stuffable (have a lovely wrap in leopard tho I'm getting really keen on pockets, so much easier when out and about, mum had him this morning & it was great just giving her a wonderoo & bg, no explanations. Still can't choose between them, although I find it hard to believe bg could fit a really large child for BTP. Did you find your fuzzis yet, you could sell those & fund a new stash!

How's it going? Is your ds any easier now a little older?

amazonianwoman · 21/06/2007 09:44

Still haven't found the fuzzis yet but then haven't looked for them yet either

I think the old style nature babies pockets were notoriously unreliable. I love pockets too (when they work ) - so slim & easy!

DS is getting a little easier, still waking twice in the night and hard to get him to sleep for more than 30mins at a time during the day (crying in his cot right now ) but the rest of the time he's more content

How are your DS's??

OP posts:
accessorizewithbabysick · 21/06/2007 20:49

WEll, you're far too busy to look for nappies IMO! Twice in the night sounds like hell. DS2 was sleeping through (didn't happen 1st time until 15 months!) but waking to have a screech at 4. Grrr. Does he have reflux? Is that why the short naps? DS2 was doing that a lot, I'm trying to persuade him that an hour is far better I'm finding life with 2 a great deal easier since ds2 turned 5 months (he's 6.5mos now), even enjoy it at times!
But really, you must buy a BG and/or wonderoo. I think I'm preferring the wonderoo, I just find velcro fiddly and it gets stuck on everything. Would like a print pocket now, I have to buy some for when he starts nursery, nippa's bambineo's too hard to explain to anyone!

nappyzone · 21/06/2007 21:07

I always forget to fold the tabs then curse when the aplix gets stuck to everyting! mind you the whole laundry thing is narking me at the moment as my silly mesh bag is also wrapping its string around everything too! i think i have pmt today!

amazonianwoman · 21/06/2007 21:54

I think Wonderoo is sounding most promising, esp if BG may not fit a whopper boy, I'm not keen on velcro either. Am I right in thinking that the new Wonderoos are a lot better because I had an old style one for DD and it wasn't very big or reliable?

And I've just seen some Pea Pod pockets - they look cute too

God, I wish I could just stop thinking about new nappies to try...

AQ - don't think he has reflux, only been sick twice, just think he finds it hard to switch off, just like DD did. They really are peas from the same pod in their behaviour. Except DD did manage to occasionally sleep from 10pm til 7 from 11 wks Roll on 5mths if it gets easier then...

nappyzone · 21/06/2007 22:26

my boys a biggy and bg do fine but you do see alot of velcro on the band if that makes sense. There super i have to say but if velcro doesnt do it for you dont go there. Very slim fitting though and no clothing issues yet. New wonderoos are far better imho and some of the bright colours are kinda funky. Pea pods excellent value. I wish i could forget about nappies too somedays as i often meander into boring some hopeless soul who just happened to make a passing comment at baby weighing clinic not about to realise there about to get a full on critique of every brand going ! lol!!! . I really should get out more!
