Was your second baby born earlier or later than your first (as in gestation) ?

Just trying to get an idea really. Dc1 born on due date. Complications with birth so dc2 is booked in for a csec however this is quite late at 39+4 (although pretty certain I'll actually be 40 weeks based on ovulation sticks and sex dates!).

So just curious really as to if second babies tend to come earlier? !

My first was one week early. Second 1 week late.

First was born at 37+3
Second was induced at 40+6

My first was 5 days early, second was 5 days late. Third was 5 days early again

My first was also on her due date. Second a week late

Pretty much bang on the same.
Dc1: 00:36 on 37+0
Dc2: 23:56 on 36+6

On the other hand my brother (1st) was born in his due date and I (2nd) was 2 weeks late.

1st was 5 days early, 2nd was 5 days late.

1st was 1 day early no intervention
2nd was 4 days late no intervention

Both on the same day

Both two weeks and two days late by the time they were actually born. Both induced. One chemical one Sweep

1st was 10 days late
2nd was 4 weeks early! Properly caught me out as I thought would be same as the first 😬

DC1 39+4
DC2 40+5

DC1 on due date. DC2 11 days late. DC3 3 days early. DC4 8 days late.

Both one week early.

1st ds was 5 days late.
2nd dd was 9 weeks early
3rd dd was 7 days late.
Oddly, 1st and 3rd child are like two peas from the same pod & middle dd is the polar opposite of them both

First was four weeks early. Second was two weeks early and third was two days early. But with each consecutive pregancy, I felt overdue in comparison to the last because id never been as pregnant with my first as I was with my second or as pregnant with my second as I was with my third. I really feel for people who go over due two weeks.

So was your second child classed as prem @Chasingsquirrels ?

Dc1 39+1
Dc2 40+8

#1 8 days late - spontaneous labour

#2 11 days early - induced starting at 38+0 for reduced movements

Mine were all late, but my 3rd was 7 days late and my 4th was 9 days late and I was booked for an induction the next day!

My first was 8days early and 2nd 9 days late. I don't think you can really know when they'll arrive.

I have no idea! He was born at home without any assistance (not planned just very fast) and was perfectly fine, feeding by the time the midwife arrived. We waited for the placenta to be delivered, cleaned up and went to bed 😁

Earlier . 1st was 39+6 and 2nd was 39 weeks .

So far 2nd is considerably later than my first.

First was a spontaneous natural birth at 37+5 (which completely caught us by surprise as I expected we'd go to 40-41 weeks like everyone else seems to).

I'm now 39+3 with my 2nd and no signs yet of him arriving.

OP- DS also arrived bang on due date... DD - 2 weeks early!

My waters broke at 36+3 for DS1 born at 37wks by emergency section as I was too tired after being in full non progressive labour for days

DS2 planned section was brought forward from 39 to 37wks due to polyhydramnios waters broke the morning of the section whilst I was getting ready to go in - went ahead with section anyway

So both born on exactly 37wks

Dd1 12 days overdue, dd2 10 days overdue
