Hello

My pharmacist recommends a cream by Weleda; I'm afraid I can't remember it's name but I'm sure you get them in Holland and Barratt.

Metanium was the best one I ever used with ds - in the yellow one in the yellow tube. Absolutely amazing stuff. Then when you get on top of it use the white one to prevent it.

We found metanium to be the best too.

BingBongBingBong · 15/10/2016 12:11

Yep yellow metanium for sure

whinetasting · 15/10/2016 12:12

Metanium is amazing- DS had awful open sores which it cured in a couple of days.
Then a thin layer of Sudocrem every nappy change.

Francescaestee · 15/10/2016 12:13

Metanium. Nappy rash cream (yellow one) is amazing. Tried so many, found this to be the best. Just be aware it stains carpet etc ..

DrSeuss · 15/10/2016 12:13

Make some camomile and honey tea and let it cool. Use this with cotton wool in place of wipes. Soak a few bits of cotton wool in the tea and place on the sore bits. Put the nappy back on, leaving the cotton in place. Weird but effective.

Another vote for Metanium.

Hope it heals soon.

Thanks everybody I was going to buy sudocream heal and protect and the Weleda one... But I will look at metanium for sure

I have got the metanium samples but they weren't the yellow packet... It was greeny blue and purple

I was first recommended Metanium when my eldest child was a baby
He is 40 now and I would still recommend the same
Amazing stuff
Messy, but does the job

memyselfandaye · 15/10/2016 15:55

Egg white, keep it in the fridge, the colder the better to take the sting away.

The egg white dries and forms a barrier between the skin and wee, you should see a difference within a day, I certainly did, it was fantastic.

trappedinsuburbia · 15/10/2016 15:56

I've never seen Metanium, my HV recommended Bepanthem? a blue tube you can get at the supermarket and it was really good, like sticky tar going on but worked a treat.

CurtainsforRonnie · 15/10/2016 15:58

Metanium yellow for sore open nappy rash. Amazing stuff. Heals so quickly.

The blue one is a barrier cream - a preventive, everday use.

If it doesn't clear up go to the doctors and ask for a prescription for Timodine. Works wonders!

user1471950254 · 15/10/2016 16:10

I also vote for Bepanthem, that's what my HV suggested as my DC has super sensitive skin even for a newborn Sad

PestoSwimissimos · 15/10/2016 16:11

Another vote here for painting on egg white and leave the nappy off as much as possible. My health visitor taught me this handy tip when none of the nappy creams were working.

2015mom · 15/10/2016 17:08

Pesto did you see a difference in a day too?

PestoSwimissimos · 15/10/2016 18:18

I can't remember how long it took, but it solved the problem and gave the skin respite from the creams I had been using (including metanium, which frankly didn't even touch the problem).

KatyN · 16/10/2016 09:02

Try and leave them naked as much as possible too. Not ideal if they are moving although it is a good practice of potty training.

We found metanium brillliant too.

milkjetmum · 16/10/2016 09:06

Drapolene here, saw immediate improvement. Used olive oil soaked cotton for wipes instead of water/wet . And lots of bare bum time.

Think about cause, for us it was lactose intolerance after tummy bug causing acid poops.

AlwaysWashing · 16/10/2016 09:07

Another vote for egg white here and as much nappy free time as possible. I did try yellow Metanium which did work but not when the skin was broken, once the egg had done its thing I used the metanium as it got better.

2015mom · 16/10/2016 17:31

I was thinking about the cause myself...

Could be a number of things which have changed over the last week

• he could be teething;
• he started nursery so could have picked up an infection there
• he started nursery and got a cold
And cough which seems to be getting better but the runny poos started last Thursday
• he had a cough and cold so I put honey in his milk since Tuesday and he got the runny poos Thursday
• he could have a stomach bug

I am going to stop putting honey in his milk and hopefully that will stop to poos and I am also going to get an appointment with the doctors because it could potentially be a stomach bug

I have been putting the yellow metanium on today, left his but nappy free, he did a poo in his Abby grow after an hour then put him
In the bath
He had some milk (with honey) and be did a runny poo again lol so had to change his nappy again lol
