Hi guys

My LO is really suffering with nappy rash at present.

What is the best nappy cream which prevents nappy rash?

What is the best nappy cream which will treat chapped and broken skin through nappy rash?

Thank you

We used reusable nappies when my DD had a really bad rash and bleeding sores. We also used metanium and cocoa bottom butter plus a lot of nappy off time. I bought some of those large pads that are used in beds for her to lay on or sit on.

Thanks for the advice

He just had some milk before he went to sleep and did another poo... We are now thinking it is the milk... We changed it from Aldi 4 pint milk to Sainsbury 6 pint bottles - full fat milk.....

Can milk from a different store have an affect on a baby's poo....

He has been breast fed until 1 year old and has been on cow's milk as a drink since he turned one.... Gradually I gave him a bottle a week then second week increased it to two bottles, third week to three bottles and a little breast milk.... Now the fourth week he is on three bottles a day of cow's milk... And of course milk cereal for breakfast

Maybe he cannot handle so much cow's milk

Another vote for Drapolene here. The only thing that works for my DD

Yellow metanium here too. Amazing stuff

My DC1 use to suffer terribly with nappy rash. I use to cover floor in towels and leave the nappy off whenever I could. I swear I could watch it heal in front of my eyes.

uhoh2016 · 16/10/2016 21:06

Drapolene I wouldn't use anything else, I've always seen a vast improvement after just 1 use. I've only ever seen it in chemists though never in a supermarket

Metanium, the yellow one is brilliant. Although, when my baby was very little we took her to docs as it wasn't healing and it turned out she had thrush. But metanium yellow has healed bad nappy rash every other time. I got it in boots.

Bepanthanm is amazing, I use it on myself as I often have open sores on my hands due to severe eczema. Much prefers it to any of the others for sore nappy rash

I would suggest it's too much cows milk.
As he's over 1 year he doesn't have to have milk so I would try and reduce it.

Could you reduce to two bottles only a day? Or do 3 bottles by dilute with water?

Hav eyou try him on alternate milks? Pay milm is very nice with porridge or cereal, maybe you could try him on that at breakfast so his overall daily amount is less?

As a baby and child I was cows milk intolerant. From around 7 years I became ok but can't drink loads in one day. Porridge with milk would be fine for me, but having a glass of milk also plus cheese in the day would make me feel ill.

My ds has had terrible mucusitis due to intense chemo. The only one that has really cleared it is epaderm (think you have to get a prescription). Miracle stuff.

This is started for us when I stopped breastfeeding and switched to formula at eight months, but my DD had always had bad nappies, they got so much worse once she was on formula, twelve explosive nappies a day, then we switched to lacto free, got around 6 bad nappies a day and now on soya milk her nappies are normal. Doctors diagnosed lactose intolerance although we think cmpa or something else as was still not great on lacto free. Not sure soya is recommended for boys though, best to go to your doctor's rather than try and guess. Hope the rash clears up soon.

Thank you everybody very useful info from you all.

It has calmed down. Put him on soya milk for children aged 1 to 3 or 1 to 5 years.

Dr at hospital said to continue as I am doing until I saw allergy nurse. Saw allergy nurse and she said to introduce whole milk and see how much he could tolerate.

Watch this space

I would go to the gp/walk in clinic this must be very painful. Until you get there nappy free time when awake, only clean with water, use the yellow cream when in nappy ad give calpol for the pain.
