Yes what do you make of that? Is our request so unreasonable? I have to say that after not having my computer for a week apart from checking my emails all I wanted to do was to get online to you lot and have a chat becuase you all understand, and you've all been there.

munz · 03/02/2007 18:50

fgs cod.

I'm dreading DH going away when J's of an age to actually know iycwim and ask q's. how do you answer/tell a toddler where daddy is? althou I knew i'd hvae to one day so it isn't unexpected iycwim.

McDreamy · 03/02/2007 18:53

I'm finding that aspect of this detatchment really hard Munz. DH has only been away for a week and when DD talks to family and friends the first thing she says is "Daddy isn't even home yet!!" she has got ages to wait yet!

Me Me I would love our own heading somewhere to go straight away just to chat & moan. I feel it would be invaluable to have when the're off to Iraq etc. A real comfort to find people going through the same crap as you!!

pinkdolly · 03/02/2007 18:56

You've got my vote. Dh is Navy and hasn't been away for a while, but it cant be that far off. Plus its good to moan about some of the other forces issues with people who know what your on about.

ooh, the pregnancy hormones kicked in when I read that thread. . I think esp for those of us who are in small quarters patches/recently arrived/struggling with yet another problem this could be such a relief. But hey - clearly those who have never been through it have a right to criticise. Will stop now before the little vein in my neck pops......

munz · 03/02/2007 20:17

exactly loopy. my DH was one of 3 when he first went away - funny how people were only intrested/now intrested when their DH's went away 3 months after/their DH's are going away, and asking advice weren't intrested at the time - althou to be fair to them I don't think they quite new what to say.

my hat goes off to the navy gals - as I understand you guys only have 20 mins a fortnight to talk to loved ones and as I understand they can be away at sea longer.

Skyler · 03/02/2007 20:26

I would like this topic too. DH is RAF and I would appreciate a Forces Families topic.
It would be a way to keep the 'Any Forces families........' threads off the chat topic too so as not to annoy other posters

Keep them coming ladies, and have we got any gents? we will persuade MN Towers

Skyler · 03/02/2007 20:52

I am glad to see topics like Gifted and Talented and Gay Parents on the topic list and yet you would have to agree that they are a minority parenting group like us Forces families so I do hope MN Towers see their way to giving us a topic. We will have to make sure we use it though

3andnomore · 03/02/2007 23:50

But skyler, there is already a gay parent section...I mean, we are not asking for gifted Forces Family to put extra on top of ordinary Forces people....

3andnomore · 03/02/2007 23:51

oops, skyler, der...read your post wrong, lol!

twoplusone · 04/02/2007 21:55

I would love one..... please please please please please

twoplusone · 04/02/2007 22:15

If they did a seprate topic for forces wifes this could also get more subscribers to MN as they could look into advertising in Forces magazines, hives etc as part of the SSAFA. Just a thought i.e in packs whe hubby is getting deployed or you move to a new area, in with the pack a little advert about feeling lonley or want to chat to other mams, military and none military try mumsnet.... Not very good at wording but hope you know what I am trying to say!!
