Which high chair is best?

I am looking into buying a high chair in preparation for introducing solids. I like aesthetically pleasing items but I also want it to be safe and sturdy for DD. We have a large dog and I don't want one that could be easily moved or knocked by him. Easy to clean is another must.

From what I can gather, the Ikea Antilop and the Stokke Tripp Trapp are well thought of. We also had a look at the Chicco Polly. Any views on which is best? Or any other suggestions?

I don't have kids yet, but when I do it will be the IKEA one. Why on earth people get some "Wipe clean" padded thing with all sorts of nooks and crannies is beyond me. My sister had a padded one and spent time picking food out the seams with a tooth pick before she could sell it and get the IKEA one.

Life's too short for tooth pick related cleaning.

Ikea antilope has done all four of my dcs. Great and you can put it in the dishwasher!

I had the Tripp trapp for DD1.
It was great.

I then had twins and funds were tight so I bought the Antilop to tide us over because I was convinced I'd buy another Tripp trapp.

Within a month I bought the second antilop.
They are amazing. Buy the blow up section and the tray too.
So easy to clean, you can take off the tray when they get bigger.

Plus the 'ideal' I had in my head for the kids using Tripp Trapps for years went out the window.
The children want proper chairs and to be grown up once they're past a certain age and won't use them anyway.

I bought a big joie and I regret not buying an antilop - do they still do them though

Love our Tripp Trapp. DS is 3.5 and loves it still, particularly for helping in the kitchen etc. v versatile.

Ikea chair has done my two children and now onto a friend's child. Still spotless, like new. So easy and a relatively small footprint in the kitchen.

I envy you having a dog to help catch the weaning mess

If you have a climber you can attach your own harness.

We've got one Antilop and three tripp trapps. Both are great, the Tripp trapp lasts longer (my 7 and 5 year olds still uses theirs which is why we now have three) but the Antilop is so spectacularly cheap and the legs come off so it doesn't take up too much room in storage (we take it on holiday to visit e grandparents and it's a good spare/garden highchair).

yes they still do them, and the insert and tray - I just insisted my sister take mine for her first baby after using one for ds2/and ds3. Had to turf ds3 out of it at 4 to give it to her!

for ds1 I had a ridiculous, expensive mamas and papas contraption which I constantly tripped over and stubbed my toe on and was impossible to keep clean. Everyone that already had children TLD.me to get an antilop and I ignored them. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!

We have an Ikea Antilop and a BabyDan high chair - like a Tripp Trapp but cheaper.

Whatever you do, don't get the Bloom Fresco. They are awful - uncomfortable for your baby and impossible to clean.

Another vote for ikea antilop, it is especially perfect if it fits under your table.

We have the stokke trip trap and it's fantastic. Really sturdy, aesthetically pleasing, comfy and can be used for a really long time. We have had ours almost 6 years now and it's still going strong and looks like new.

Definitely do not get the Chico Polly. Hideous thing. I used it for all of 4 months before I chucked it. Filthy awful contraption that is IMPOSSIBLE to clean!!

I have two.

IKEA Antilop (fab) and my AMAZING Brother max Scoop. Love love love my scoop. It's stylish, very easy to clean (like the ikea one in that respect). Both my just 2 year old and my baby love to go in it.

Everyone who has seen my scoop is jealous and wishes they'd bought one. Trust me. If you have a vaguely nice kitchen and want one that looks nice, get one!

(although I will say I wouldn't be without my ikea one either! )

Tripp Trapp.
I've had antilop too but Tripp Trapp wins.
It's prettier and matches my chairs.
It has a better footprint, I was forever tripping over the antilop.
DC use it as a step too.
