Don't you just love it when smug parents-of-two-perfect-children get their come-uppance with the third?!

I have friends who had a girl first (same age as my ds1), but very placid and easy-going; at first they were prepared to give me the parenting benefit of the doubt that maybe boys were different.

But then they have a boy (same age as my ds2), who is also malleable, compliant, and generally angelic at every turn.

They then become irritatingly smug parents, convinced that their children's good nature is entirely due to their wonderful parenting skills...
Then third child comes along ...

He is by no means a demon-child-from-hell ... he's just a normal, boisterous, at times hard-work pre-schooler.
But he hasn't half changed some of their smug attitudes

collision · 21/10/2006 16:38

LOL at this as my bro was the same!!!!!

TheDaVinciCod · 21/10/2006 16:39

my eldest are no angels but are certainly more normal than mentalist ds3
he sint naughty so much any more btu is hugely eccentric

3andnomore · 22/10/2006 12:25

Lol I know what ya mean, I had a friend who tried to tell me that it was my own fault that my Kids would touch things when they were at that certain age, as I basically couldn't do with all teh no-saying all teh time, and just didn't have ornaments...until then her older 2 Kids were both non touchers and her 3. ds was to little, only a newborn, well...a few month later, when he gotten into that age where they do this touching everything, etc...thing...she found out that no amount of saying no made no difference and after learning the hard way of loosing some valued ornaments she decided that maybe not having them within reach might be the best plan of action afterall
Funny enough, now my ys is by no means perfect and defiantely comepletely different to my other 2, but he is actually my non toucher and the most placid out of my 3, lol! I suppsoe I deserved one of those afterall, lmao...saying that, he screams a lot and is the most miserable lil guy I have come across, when he is in one of those moods, lol...nobody is perfect eh!

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 22/10/2006 12:26

got my comeuppance with no 1

and even more with no 2

and am not, therefore, having a number 3

KristinaM · 22/10/2006 12:28

if anyone is thinking of having a third, I coudl lend them my demon-child-from-hell for a few days, just to try it out

ScummyMummy · 22/10/2006 12:29

I've heard a lot of reports that 3rd children can be a handful.

LadyTophamHatt · 22/10/2006 12:33

Our ds3 is without a doubt the ring leader in our house.

If ds1+2 are arguing or fighting he'll always gang up with the one who has the upper hand.

He tells me I'm lazy if I won't get him a biscuit/yoghurt/toy/book/whatever immediately and that pretty much because ds+2 run about like his little slaves when they're at home.

Trinityrhino · 22/10/2006 12:35

oh pleeeeeeease don't make me panic, I am expecting my third and I'm already terrified I'm going to get a screamer cause the first two weren't, Not a jot of smugness over here, I am well aware that I was lucky not clever

SoupDragon · 22/10/2006 12:35

Where do you think DS4 will fit in then?

SoupDragon · 22/10/2006 12:35

(LTH's DS4, obviously)

LadyTophamHatt · 22/10/2006 12:36

the cupboard under the stairs.....

SoupDragon · 22/10/2006 12:36

don't panic, Trinity. If you search the archives you won't find a single thread where I offer 3rd born BabyDragon Free For Postage....

The scan said boy IIRC

mymama · 22/10/2006 12:53

yep. Also love when smug parents of 1 child get their comeuppance with child number 2.

LadyTophamHatt · 22/10/2006 13:10

yes, MV, it's another boy...or so they say.

I know it means jack shit but I've had such a different PG this time I won't actully believe it's another boy until he's here.

Just have to think of a name for the poor little chap...bloody hard work when we've already got 3.

Blossomhowl · 22/10/2006 13:16

I just think anyone who has more than 2 children is extremely brave (or is that mad? )

misdee · 22/10/2006 13:22

dd1 was, and still is, an angel of a child. pretty well behaved, very loving etc.

dd2 was a shock. she is a very independant strong willed little girl, who has to know how things work (takes them apart), very loud and boiterious, a total whirlwind.

dd3, well she is sneaky lol. she can be so angelic like dd1 was, but has a mischevious streak in her. she eats better than the other 2 put otgetehr though, and is more loving than the other 2, is always wanting cuddles and giving kisses.
