Hi,
I am confused about something. I met with David couple of years ago and slept with him as well. But somehow we broke up. right after broke up, I met James and he was a good guy. I married with him and got pregnant too. After my baby was born, i gave my son his father name as James(whom i married). We were thinking of travelling too. so we made our son's passport as well. Now after two years, David came back in my life. He when saw my baby he said my son has got his features as well. Which means he is his son.
I didn't thought till then that before marrying James i had intercourse with David just a week or two ago.

Now how to confirm whose son is he. Secondly, is it possible to change fathers name on all documents as I want to change it to David.

Please guide me in it.

Hmm
Lulabellarama · 09/01/2014 16:17

Have you tried calling Jeremy Kyle?

Indith · 09/01/2014 16:18

Good advice Lula. Jeremy is your best bet. He will work out which one is the daddy and then you can think about getting documents sorted.

Juno77 · 09/01/2014 16:20

Childrens parent's names aren't on their passports.

Buzzardbird · 09/01/2014 16:21

Something tells me you will have problems with form filling Hmm

lunar1 · 09/01/2014 16:23

I'd wait a few months, you will probably want to Change it to Simons name.

Juno77 · 09/01/2014 16:23

You met James and got married all within 9 months? That was fast. And has he never thought it was strange that you had a baby exactly 9 months after meeting him?

Greentoothbrush · 09/01/2014 16:28

Why don't you give crosswords ago if you are that bored?

Hawkmoth · 09/01/2014 16:34

What a lovely story.

Hi All,
It seems crazy for everyone but What can I say? Onece you broke up with someone and are depressed, suddenly you met someone who starts caring about you. Fear of loosing second time makes you take quick decisions. That is what happened with me. I made quick emotional step. or marrying someone whom i barely knows for more than few days. I accept my wrong decision of reacting quickly. But now I am in a situation where I had to face the reality. I know Baby name is not on passport but it is at back end of passport (in a chip). I don't want my son to get confused after knowing at some place that his fathers name in passport documents is different. Please suggest me can i take DNA test of both child and David to confirm?

The passport chip does not contain any information about your childs parentage.

However, you probably should do that DNA test.

Does James know the child is potentially not his?

Indith · 09/01/2014 16:43

Ok, assuming you are indeed a very mixed up person. You can pay for dna testing. Most accurate will be if you can provide dna of father too. Might be best if you can provide samples from baby, yourself and both potential fathers. This will give you an answer.

I'm afraid I do not know the legality of changing birth certificate. perhaps ring your registry office and ask them.

If you are able to change birth certificate then you would be able to get a new passport using the new documents.

Indith · 09/01/2014 16:44

That is assuming you are in the uk. You don't write as though English is your first language.

AmeliaFox · 09/01/2014 16:47

Thanks Juno77 and Indith. I received most reasonable responses from both of you. I will think of it as well. If father name is not in chip of passport, next time when i will send his passport for renewal, may I write his real father name?

Have you spoken with James about this? I can't see from your posts any reference to your marriage breaking down. So do I assume he remains under the illusion that he is a happily married father?

Juno77 · 09/01/2014 16:50

Um, not unless it is a) the same as the birth certificate, and b) you actually find out who the 'real' father is.

gamerchick · 09/01/2014 16:52

Dna test

AdoraBell · 09/01/2014 16:58

You really need To find out which one is the father.

If you simply put a different Name on a passport renewal form it may raise questions. At present, if you are in the UK, your husband is pressumed To be the child's father unless you claim other wise, which I would not advice doing úntil you are certain.

FWIW I worked with someone who got married Two weeks after meeting the BF. It does happen occasionaly.

Lj8893 · 09/01/2014 17:23

Oh he has David's features??? It must be his baby then. Hmm

AmeliaFox · 09/01/2014 17:27

Hi All,
James has no problems with changing the name of baby's father as he think "I can't take anything which is not mine"
