Was your daughter the spitting image of her dad?

My six month old is a double of her father. She has my eye colour but that's just about it. Everyone comments on it and says "lets hope she changes!". I think they mean, we wouldn't want her to look like a man.

Am now paranoid my little girl looks like a boy and will grow up with bushy eyebrows and stubble!

Do they grow up looking more girly?

both dd's are the image of their dad but of course more feminine versions!

my sisters 2 girls are the image of their father but very very girly, 2 years and 4 years. strange that they can look so like him but still look very feminine, genetics are a strange thing. im sure she'l look beautiful as the image of her daddy.xx

DD is 3y4m and is starting to look like me, but for the first 3 years of her life she was the image of DH and DS2. I look at baby photos of the 3 of them and they really are indistinguishable, aside from DH's are black and white, DS2's are noticeably 10+ years old and DD's clothes are girly. But the babies in the pic could be the same child.

dd looks exactly like dh, and is beautiful. My stepdaughter looked identical to dd as a baby, and is turning into the most beautiful young woman (she is 14) so I feel pretty confident for dd's future.

harpsiheraldangelssing · 27/12/2005 21:24

both of my dd's are very very like their father
from what I remember of him haha that's my little joke.
I think it is evolution's way of getting the daddy to stick around.
the resemblance just after birth was VERY striking
dd1 now looks more like herself IYKWIM

my dd is the spitting image of her my dh,in looks aswell as personality

very dark with beautiful blue eyes....

funnygirl · 27/12/2005 22:09

My dd has her fathers hairline (not flattering I can assure). We are praying for more hair...!

They sleep in the same position too.

However she has my mouth, nose and lungs!!

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 27/12/2005 22:10

Mine is apart from eye and hair colour, her expressions are scarily like him.

fuzzywuzzy · 27/12/2005 22:12

yes both of them were/are to my eternal chagrin almost carbon copies of their dad..... The girls paternity may not be in question but the question will always hang...am I sure I gave birth to them.....????
I'm going to have to have at least one more to see if any of my features will appear on a child of mine.....

Cadmum · 27/12/2005 22:16

Our DD was a 'daddy-double' as well but now that she is 6 1/2 she is starting to look somewhat more like me. She certainly has my height and build. Only our DS2 looks anything like my family TBH.

Dd looked rather shockingly like her father when a newborn. Bear in mind that dp was nicknamed 'Frankenstein' at school because of huge build, high forehead and long neck. Now she's 3 and although still has some of his features and colouring she's also got more of me. Bear in mind I was always asked to be the Princess in school plays ...

Maddison · 27/12/2005 22:48

My brother's daughters are the very image of their dad, only cuter!

Twiga · 28/12/2005 00:56

My MIL showed me baby pics of my DH last time we were over and it could have been dd in the photos - up til then dh and I would have said she didn't really look like either of us. She's just over 3 months old now and as her hair is getting fairer people say she's more like me where as to start with they saw a lot of dh in her. We still can't decided and think she's a good mix of us both, but the newborn pics are uncanny!

Tortington · 28/12/2005 01:05

my dd has her dads colouring and could play rugby for england

kiskidee · 28/12/2005 02:10

my dd is the spitting image of her dad. I think she only has one thing that I have.

can be a scary thought as he plays tight end in rugby (read thick legs and neck, huge shoulders) I am a petite thing so I do hope she has my body type. She is petite at the moment so fingers crossed.

gravity · 28/12/2005 06:35

spitting split when they were twins alike.... right down to she has his really long thick eyelashes.... lucky cow!!!

blueshoes · 28/12/2005 08:36

Have to go against the grain of this thread ... dd looks like me in facial features, hair and build (my ethnic persuasion) with the shyest hint of dh in her features. Then again, dh is of mixed parentage (gorgeous, in my humble opinion ) and I blame his "diluted" genes. I am sure that when dh takes her out, people must think she is adopted. But she is all daddy in terms of sleep [bitter laughter emoticon].

TherewasnoMOOMattheINn · 28/12/2005 09:45

dd1 esp is the image of her dad. when people say this to me i say 'well at least she's healthy'! no, really, both look like dh but dd1 esp and they are both gorgeous (as is he, if he's reading this)

caveman-type theory is, i heard, that babies look like their dad when they are newborn to help try to bond father to baby and stop him doing a runner!! vain buggers that they are, they are more likely to hang around if baby looks like themselves
