Hi all. Just posted an update on my old thread here .

We're all doing well. Hoping for a discharge from hospital tomorrow or the day after. More info in the original thread.

Love to you all, and thanks for LOADS of well wishes. You really have all been very kind and the posts really helped Dee and I along in the last few days.

Glad you have your family home now - enjoy your extremely beautiful daughter

Easy · 12/07/2005 22:25

Keep staring at her hub.

The night after we brought ds home from hosp. as a newborn, dh went to the chippy for our dinner. Bloke in chippy said "had a nice evening?" Dh replied " yes, I've been watching my son"
Bloke says "oh, he been playing football then?".

"no" said dh "just sleeping".

Love to you all

sleep with such a young baby - you lucky thing! LOL!

your making me broody as well , but only if i can have a little one, both mine were 10lbers so was like having a three month old straight away, i want a cute little 7 or 8 lber so it feels like i've got a baby!! but my dh has said no way and has booked himself in for the snip!! plus i suppose i should get my course finished first.

i'm off to visit the portland next week to see about placement/work experience there.

hub2dee · 13/07/2005 10:44

You can come and peak at my little one then promptly go and accost dh / dp, LOL !

I'm having some trouble figuring out how / when to sterilise everything, how to sort the timing IYSWIM to get things running smoothly.

I've put more info in this thread here if anyone wants to offer words of wisdom.

Urm hub, sweetheart, this is a baby you've got here, let me just point something out here.

ou will never get things "Running smoothly".

IME as soon as you work out a routine and think you've got the timings right, Camille will change it. She'll suddenly decide to feed 1/2 an hour after the last one, or she'll sleep much longer one night (you wake up panicing, and daring each other to look at her to see if she's O.K.)

FWIW with bottles, I used to sterilise them all in the morning, and make up feeds straight away, to store in the fridge, doing it all again evening-time. Then when a feed was demanded, it was ready in seconds (warmed in the microwave). This was formula of course, I only BF'd for the first two weeks, during which time ds always took his supply direct. So I don't know the rules about storing breastmilk, but if you can do this I'd recommend it, esp when stumbling about at 3 a.m.

Good luck.

hub2dee · 15/07/2005 21:25

Hi Easy,

Yep, it is definitely a baby, LOL.

I'm not a stickler for 'timing' wrt feeds or anything else. It was more about figuring out when it makes sense to put the steriliser on considering things only stay sterile for a limited amount of time (leaving aside a discussion on whether this is even necessary, LOL).

At the mo, as DW is expressing several times a day, I'm probably throwing everything into the steriliser three times a day, that way if I need anything, it is ready to go.

When things don't quite go to plan, we grab some SMA formula. Not a prob.

Thanks for the timing advice though.

hunkermunker · 16/07/2005 11:49

Doesn't work here

Caribbeanqueen · 16/07/2005 11:49

Wow, that is so gorgeous! Brought a tear to my eye! She's lovely.

hub2dee · 16/07/2005 11:50

I think cribs and cots are over-rated.

I mean, who needs them ?

Thanks, cp.

Sorry hunker, what do you see ? It is a QuickTime movie.

Have you installed a QuickTime Player from apple ?

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 16/07/2005 11:54

I have Quicktime - it goes through the loading process, then comes up with what looks like a ripped piece of paper with the Quicktime logo on it, if that makes sense!

hub2dee · 16/07/2005 11:58

I'd just reinstall the latest version tbh. If that fails, CAT me and I'll e-mail you the 1.2meg file if you like so you don't feel left out, LOL.

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 16/07/2005 11:59

Oh, bless you! I'll try reinstalling now

And if that fails, expect a CAT I wanna see Camille!

AuntyQuated · 16/07/2005 12:07

same prob here
think i've installed it but still can't see anything

hunkermunker · 16/07/2005 12:10

Works now!

Hub, she's GORGEOUS! What a cute idea - she'll love that when she's older!

hub2dee · 16/07/2005 12:29

"Dad, I can't believe you put me in a bl*dy shoebox you big ase. NG saw it and he thinks I'm a shortie"

hunker - could you advise Aunty on what you did ? Might work for her ?

hunkermunker · 16/07/2005 12:32

I clicked your link, downloaded the latest version of QT (and iTunes) for Windows XP, then installed it.

I had already closed all the browser windows to download and install, so I reopened MN, clicked your link and presto, it loaded! Complete with music

Hope that works for you AQ. It's worth it!
