How many pairs of shoes do your dc have, and what sort are they?

DD (year 4) currently has:

school shoes
mucky trainers
'nice' trainers
wellies (not sure if these still fit)

In the warm months, also has everyday sandals to play in, and a pair of 'nice' sandals (that usually are barely worn). Also confess to a pair of crocs !

Just curious as I've been on a children's shoe website that has categories for 'weekend shoes', 'party shoes' , 'boots', etc.

i am not going to tell you how many pairs dd has because i will get told off!, but she has boots, school shoes, nice shoes, sandals, trainers and wellies

shonaspurtle · 15/11/2009 14:13

Ds (nearly 3) has one pair of leather Clarks shoes which are for everything, one pair of wellies, one pair of sandals and one pair of slippers.

My (totally unscientific sample of about 10 children) observation is that girls seem to have more pairs of shoes - eg "party" shoes. This might be nonsense though.

Ds (6) has wellies, slippers, school shoes, crocs from the summer, trainers and browny/black shoes for the weekend.

Dd (3) has wellies, slippers, lovely clarks zip boots, ebay Clarks shoes, crocs, boots from the NCT sale and will soon have party shoes

dd (17 months) has wellies, slippers, her own Clarks shoes, her cousins hand ons, her sisters hand ons and I think she needs boots... Actually really really need to take her to be fitted soon.

dd (6)
one pair school shoes
one pair trainers.

She will wear both till they fall apart/grow out of. In winter sales she'll get a pair of winter boots.

All Clarks and all last season's from local MCarthur Glenn outlet place.

(her mummy has one pair of Ecco shoes and 2 pairs of slippers)

TheArmadillo · 15/11/2009 15:03

ds (5yo) has
school shoes
trainers
wellies
sandals

but also has a pair of trainers and a pair of wellies he has to keep at school.

roisin · 15/11/2009 15:03

My boys have often just have one pair of shoes plus wellies. (No trainers or anything else.) They grow so fast, I can't justify loads of pairs of footwear. Shoes usually last 6 months, hiking boots usually a couple of years if we're lucky.

These days they have;
ds1 (12) - 4pr school shoes, trainers, hiking boots and football boots
ds2 (10) - school shoes, old pair of school shoes for kicking about in, hiking boots.

thumbwitch · 15/11/2009 15:07

DS (nearly 2) has:
1 pair sandals
1 pair canvas shoes
1 pair trainers (charity shop)
1 pair leather shoes (charity shop)

Those are the shoes that currently fit him anyway. He has a pair of canvas shoes and a pair of sandals in the next size up already.

I would like him to have a pair of "jellies" for playing in the sea/wet as well (am in Oz, not as cruel as it sounds!)

Was not keen on having charity shop shoes, MIL bought them without me knowing, but always make sure DS wears socks with them. Probably v. silly PFB paranoia but have always been a bit wary of charity shop shoes.

duckyfuzz · 15/11/2009 15:08

dd1 school shoes, trainers, fake uggs.

dd2 pink boots.

all have slippers and wellies too (ok, ds doesn't but he wears my hiking boots if doing anything muddy. plus he has football boots)

right, will read thread and find out how neglectful i am

MayorNaze · 15/11/2009 15:11

oh, dds are 7 & 3

redsofas · 15/11/2009 15:20

ds1 (3.7)
nice trainers
nursery trainers
black trainers
converses
smart leather shoes
sandals
wellie boots
slippers ~(if they count as shoes?)

ds2 (13 weeks)
3 pair of soft sole trainers
2 pair baby booties
baby converses (not quite into yet)
slippers
(never really used!!!)

I know i buy them far too many shoes but i do overspend generally, trying to calm down a bit

redsofas · 15/11/2009 15:23

I cannot bring myself to buy a pair of those crocs for ds1 i think they look awfull i just get him cheap jellies for the beach.

Earlybird · 15/11/2009 15:23

DD would love a pair of Uggs, but I was when I saw price of them. The shop assistant told me they usually sell out before Christmas in children's sizes......

Would also love to get dd a nice pair of boots, but find she doesn't get enough wear out of them to justify the price.
