I have always considered myself working class as I work for a living..I've been to university, got a degree and have a professional qualification but recently at work I heard a couple of colleagues speak of themselves as middle class...doesn't really matter I suppose, just interested in opinions!!

The Oxford English will have to add a few more pages to accommodate these new verbs. God I better watch my spelling and apostrophe placement now...

My parents are working class, dh's parents are working class and we have friends who are working class and also friends who are middle class.

I am without doubt working class.

Oh, and it's definitely
1 couch
2 living room
3 toilet
4 serviette ...or yes indeed, kitchen roll will do nicely

Working class and so very proud to be.

Middle clas folk make me well those pretending to be....snobs ugh

True 'posh' folk are a delight and mingle with anyone regardless. They dont give tuppence what people think of them whereas wannabe middle class folk are so up thier own arses

Yes chocolatepeanut..you are sooo right..I worked in A private hospital some years ago and found that those who were titled (or proper posh as I would like to call them!) were a much nicer breed of person than those who were nouveau riche and expected me to kiss thier arses and wait on them hand and foot.

I work and have worked with middle class folk all my life. I love being working class. They so try to put me down and I am amused that they feel the need to try to!

I see big differences in the parenting style of the middle class people i know too but i will not go into that for fear of being shot!!

Can anyone actually find definitions of all of them? I think I am working class. Am working raising my son on my own and on tax credits - low wage so I dont think I can be this skint and be middle class.

  1. Sofa
  2. Sitting Room
  3. Loo
  4. Napkin if it is made of cotton or serviete if it is paper.

I imagine my working class relatives would consider that we are middle class and my middle class friends probably think that we are a little rough around the edges and would label us as working class. Before having ds I would probably have considered us to be middle class but lack of funds since having children means we have slipped down the social ranking and if I had to label myself as anything I would say that we were working class. I really don't care though. Apart from on MN I don't imagine that anyone will ever ask the question!

You're right dollshouse..hadn't given it much thought myself...where I live people are more concerned with your political or religious background! Rather given myself away haven't I?!!
