Ok, I know this is probably pregnancy hormones, but I was watching VH1 soap stars day (what was Jason Donovan thinking??), and on came Martine McCutcheon (have I spelt that right) and 'Perfect Moment'. The tears flowed, and I mean buckets. It was the first some I remember hearing when I had DD and at the time I wailed like my newborn baby. Well 4 years on and the song still reminds me of the day I had DD.

What songs bring it all back for you? What songs make you cry? Does you DD/DP laugh, as mine just did?

I knew I'd missed some... Everything I Do by Bryan Adams, number 1 when DS3 was born (& probably conceived..) & for many weeks afterwards. Seemed to become his theme.

I'm with Sibble with Seasons in the Sun & 2 Little boys Also You'll Never Walk Alone (when not sung by a football crowd) as it reminds me of my dad; & Nights in White Satin.

I can't bear anything that was in the charts in the summer of 1985. I was pregnant with DD & throwing up all the time. I only have to hear "life in a northern town" & I'm reaching for the bucket. (Could of course be the song and NOT the association! )

The song that was in the charts that I relate most to ds that gives me a shiver and I used to sing to him was (sadly) "You" by S Club 7 - the words are quite nice though:

"You are all I need to get me through
Like a falling star I fell for you
You are all I need to love
An angel sent from God above
And now I know that all I need is you"

But the one that makes me bawl is "Little Star" by Madonna - we had it at his baptism and I bawled all the way through it!

(Just remembered that the song playing when ds was actually born by emergency c-section was the surgeon's choice - Say tonight, by Eagle Eye Cherry - not exactly soppy!!!)

When I had my daughter I listened to the words of isn't she lovely by stevie wonder as if for the first time its her song for me.also like two little boys and honey by glenn campbell i think is a lump in the throat tune.AHHH

Oh Tinker - sob sob sob - that is so lovely, thank you! I've pasted that out of the thread so I can sing it with all the right words to DS - how soppy!

(... I almost forgot to add that whenever I sing to DS nowadays he covers his ears, grimaces and barks "stop SINGING mummeeee"...)

No - NOT BOYZONE no... tell me it's a nightmare...

When we had DD's naming ceremony a friend who is one of her 'child guides' wrote her a song and sang it at the ceremony, makes me howl everytime I listen to it.

My other best ever song is Hiring Fair by Fairport Convention (young, old hippy me), especially when lying in a field in August drunk as a skunk - so many memories....

Barbra Streisand - Woman in Love, gets me every time, and the kids know it word for word!!

Breeze, Savage Garden oh what good taste you have!! Griffy as well, just read the lyrics, makes you............ OMG there I go!!!

Love those records

"Beggar on a Beach of Gold" - just as a reminder that whatever else may be be going wrong in my life, I have ds, and that's more precious than material things and personal success.

Bossanova · 16/05/2003 22:49

'Yellow' by Coldplay. I used to sing it to ds when he was a baby, and it was nothing to do with his jaundice, honest!

Finbar · 17/05/2003 09:27

Does anyone know a song called 'All alone' by a country and western type female singer - possibly Mary chapin carpenter or something like that - it was played all the time when I was pregnant with DD and it's HEART WRENCHING -. She wrote it about her husband who had recently died and there's a line about how he lives on in the smile of her son....I dare you not to dissolve in tears!

'loveunlimeted' It may be winter outside but in my heart it's spring'

"Blessed" by Elton John. Can NEVER listen to it without crying. If I happen to be looking at Jackbaby while listening to it, I'm in floods of tears instantly!

Also, "Love Needs a Second Chance" by 54-40. Will never forget lying beside my very first love, Derek Basinger, in his dorm room, listening to it while we were dozing off... ahhhh...
