Ok, I know this is probably pregnancy hormones, but I was watching VH1 soap stars day (what was Jason Donovan thinking??), and on came Martine McCutcheon (have I spelt that right) and 'Perfect Moment'. The tears flowed, and I mean buckets. It was the first some I remember hearing when I had DD and at the time I wailed like my newborn baby. Well 4 years on and the song still reminds me of the day I had DD.

What songs bring it all back for you? What songs make you cry? Does you DD/DP laugh, as mine just did?

Every time i was organising something for my wedding (nearly 4 yrs ago - good grief), whether it was trying on a dress or writing invitations or whatever - "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None The Richer always seemed to be playing somewhere. It still brings back all the excitement and I would do it all again - with dh of course.

"Every time we say goodbye" sung by Simply Red. This was on the hospital radio when I was alone in the delivery room with DS2 and I sang along with it to him. I never had any moments like this with DS1 so it was really special I used to sing it when feeding him at bedtime too.

whymummy · 15/05/2003 19:26

along came you by gloria estefan and that baby can i hold you tonight by tracy chapman??

doormat · 15/05/2003 19:27

Heart shaped box by Nirvana.
I heard it all through pregnancy on Q music channel with ds3 who is 2.I bought the c.d too as i liked it that much.He would settle down in the womb when it was playing on t.v or c.d He still loves the song now.
Sad but true-by Metallica and Creep-by radiohead has a significant meaning for dp and I.

Nutjob · 15/05/2003 19:40

She's the One by Robbie Williams was playing in the delivery room as dd came into the world. I can always remember lying back on the bed between pushes and thinking - oh I like this one!! Always makes me smile wistfully everytime I hear it now. When ds was a newborn Angel of Mine by Eternal was in the charts and I used to sing it to him as I fed him. Aaaahhhh

lucy123 · 15/05/2003 20:03

It's always been "Somebody" by Depeche Mode for me. Based my entire relationship on it!

breeze · 15/05/2003 20:06

When I hear Savage Garden Truly, madly, deeply I go all emotional as this was the song played at our wedding. if dh hears it on the radio he will always phone me just to say I love you. ahhh

Also when I hear Careless Whisper by George Michael I want to scream, but only because when ds was 8 months old that was the only thing that stopped him from crying.

Marina · 15/05/2003 22:04

Leonard Cohen, Take this Waltz for me and dh...
Swing Low, Sweet Chariot reminds us of ds. We'd be singing it to him at 2am, both of us sagging with exhaustion, while these enormous eyes stared out from his Moses Basket.

griffy · 15/05/2003 22:36

'Lying in the arms of Mary' - Bellamy Brothers - was on the radio exactly at the mo that DS was born. I've only heard it 3 times since - each time on the car radio - and I've burst into tears each time. Keep meaning to get hold of the CD.

Eva Cassidy singing 'Fields of Gold' - I just cannot watch the advert for (I think) Cancer Research which features the music, brings a real lump to my throat.

nobby · 15/05/2003 23:14

Mystery Girl by Roy Orbison. Makes my heart twist.

sibble · 16/05/2003 00:11

Tinker · 16/05/2003 00:14

griffy - think it's Sutherland Brothers & Quiver (I'd order it from Amazon rather than ask for that in a shop )

mears · 16/05/2003 00:23

" I love your cornflakes" was the chorus of the song by the Bellamy Brothers - can't remember the real words. Was it called 'It's the reason'. Great song.

mears · 16/05/2003 00:27

Did a quick search - the song was called 'Let your love flow'

What was the line that sounded like 'I love your cornflakes' - anyone?

Tinker · 16/05/2003 00:33

For you mears

There’s a reason for the sunshine in the sky
and there’s a reason why I’m feeling so high
‘t must be the season when the love lights shine all around us.

So let that feeling grab you deep inside
and send you reeling where you love and hide
and then go stealing through the moonlit nights with your lover

Just let your love flow like a mountain stream
and let your love grow with the smallest of dreams
and let your love show and you’ll know what I mean -
it’s the season.
Let your love fly like a bird on the wing
and let your love bind you to all living things
and let your love shine and you’ll know what I mean -
that’s the reason

There’s a reason for the warm, sweet nights
and there’s a reason for the candle lights
‘t must be the season when the love lights shine all around us.

So let that wonder take you into space
and lay you under its loving embrace
just feel the thunder as it warms your face - you can’t hold back.

Just let your love flow...
Let your love flow...

mears · 16/05/2003 00:34

Let Your Love Flow
Bellamy Brothers

There's a reason
for the sunshine day,
There's a reason
why I'm feelin' so high.
Must be the season
When that love light shines all around us.
So let that feeling
grab you deep inside
and send you reeling
where your love can't hide
and then go stealing
throught the summer nights
with your lover.
Just let your love flow
like a mountain stream
and let your love grow
with the smallest of dreams
and let your love show
And you'll know what I mean
it's the season.
Let your love fly
like a bird on the wing
And let your love bind you
to all living things,
and let your love shine
and you'll know what I mean,
that's the reason.
There's a reason
for the warm sweet nights
There's a reason
for the candle lights.
Must be the season
when those love rites shine all around us.
So let the wonder
take you into space
and lay you under
its loving embrace
feel the thunder
as it warms your face
you can't hold back.
ust let your love flow
like a mountain stream
and let your love grow
with the smallest of dreams
and let your love show
And you'll know what I mean
it's the season.
Let your love fly
like a bird on the wing
And let your love bind you
to all living things,
and let your love shine
and you'll know what I mean,
that's the reason.

Don't know why as youngsters we thought they sang about cornflakes - but there you go.
God, I am so sad

mears · 16/05/2003 00:35

Oh my God Tinker - you are as sad as me

Tinker · 16/05/2003 00:35

jinx

Tinker · 16/05/2003 00:38

For griffy -
God, I should go to bed! Urgh, just found out Boyzone have ruined this song

The lights shine down the valley
The wind blows up the alley
Oh how I wish I were lying in the
Arms of Mary

She took the pains of boyhood
And turned them into feel good
Oh hw I wish I were lying in the
Arms of Mary

Mary was the girl who taught me all I had
To know--she put me right on my first mistake
Summer wasn't gone when I'd learned all she had
To show--she really gave all a boy could take

So now when I feel lonely
Still looking for the one and only
That's when I wish I were lying in the
Arms of Mary

Mary was the girl who taught me all I had
To know--she put me right on my first mistake
Summer wasn't gone when I'd learned all she had to show
She really gave all a boy could take...

The lights shine down the valley
The wind blows up the alley
Oh how I wish I were lying in the
Arms of Mary

Gabrielle - we used to listen to her to go to sleep ( pre dd days).....

' a frog went a walking one summers day' - dd loves it and I always get a smile and giggle when I start to sing it.... dh ' mouse in a windmill??' not sure of the title - but dd loves it when dh sings it to her... again big smile and laugh!! ahhhhhh

tallulah · 16/05/2003 18:00

I'm with Sibble with Seasons in the Sun & 2 Little boys Also You'll Never Walk Alone (when not sung by a football crowd) as it reminds me of my dad; & Nights in White Satin.

I can't bear anything that was in the charts in the summer of 1985. I was pregnant with DD & throwing up all the time. I only have to hear "life in a northern town" & I'm reaching for the bucket. (Could of course be the song and NOT the association! )
