Hi Bobsmum.
Mumsnet will have at stand at the NEC (D33). The people manning it will be me, Gizmo, SueW and Leese. If you haven't already got the book, stop by the stand and get one from us.
We will also be trying to promote the site so any help would be gratefully accepted.

Carriel · 07/05/2003 17:21

I hesitate to say this now bobsmum has already booked her place, but as exhibitors we have a few spare tickets for the show. If anyone wants a pair [email protected] with your address and I'll let you know if you've got your request in in time.
Sincere apologies bobsmum, hope you get oodles of other freebies/bargains

Hi I will be at the baby show on Friday 30th - come and visit the Usborne Books at Home stand and introduce yourself.

I will pop by the Mumsnet stand and say hello!

Hope to see you there.

Tracy

not as far as I know, but unless Sue and give me a break I will be on my own on Sunday

SueW · 07/05/2003 22:04

I'm sure I can give you a break Mocha. I am helping out on the NCT stand on Sunday but there will be others there too. I'm sure they won't mind.

Mocha · 07/05/2003 22:28

Thanks Sue.
I will definitely be there. (with DD in car seat on pushchair.)

Carriel · 08/05/2003 13:55

Sorry bobsmum - wonder if you could sell them on ebay/to a friend even if it was at a loss - I'd keep a spare pair for you and you'd have saved some money...?

Thought I'd revive this thread as I have just got home having helped set up the MUMSNET stand this morning at the NEC.

We think it looks pretty good. Photos have been taken so J, C & R will be able to virtually see what it looked like!

In spite of not having nor planning a baby, I mentally spent about £500 just walking round. In reality, I spent £6.50 but since I'm back there for the next two days, I can see problems already (unless I leave all cards and cash at home.....)

Anyone in the area - do pop down and say hello, check out the latest baby things, have a neck and shoulder massage in the Pamper zone....

Bobsmum · 30/05/2003 15:33

Ticket torment and tragedy has struck the Bobsmum household.
Paid for two tickets many moons ago.

Then offered further two freebie ones from lovely Mumsnet (too late alas)
Now this week have one 2 more in long forgotten jojomamanbebe competition,
plus 4 from preggy vitamin company
plus another 2 from totsbots.
i am awash with babyshow tickets. so if I have so many (if not all tickets in existence) will i in fact be the only one there apart from people manning stands??
have given most away, but still have 2 left. Unfortunately they all say "complimentary" at the top so i'd feel a bit evil about selling on a freebie. Oh who'd have a conscience?!

bobsmum- unbelievable! Amazing to win so many tickets and a great shame you had bought some originally.

I'm hoping those there today are having a brilliant time.

bayleaf · 30/05/2003 20:51

Looking forward to meeting you on Sunday hopefully SueW!
I'll be the one with the ATkins bad breath making people stay away from the Mumsnet stall...

SueW · 30/05/2003 21:38

ooh yes bayleaf - heard today you were coming.

Wear something cool - it's hot in there. Even at 11am before it fills up.

Mocha · 30/05/2003 22:55

Just to let you all know, we sold 6 copies of the book today and gave away quite a few leaflets so hopefully there will be some new people joining online soon.
DD was very well behaved and everyone who passed the stand said how gorgeous and good she was.
She also won (came joint first) in a crawling competion and won a pair of knee pads.
Hope to see you at the stand on Sunday as I am back there again with Bayleaf

SueW · 30/05/2003 23:04

Did it get really busy MOcha? There were hundreds of people heading towards the hall as I left. Pretty much all mums and pushchairs.

I guess the good weather will mean fewer people might attend on the spur of the moment than if it was predicted to be a wet weekend.

Mocha · 30/05/2003 23:08

There was a sudden rush of people when I went to give Lauren her lunch and Gizmo sold 5 books in that time. Other than that is was generally a steady stream.

JulieF · 31/05/2003 00:16

It was great to see you there today.

SueW I'm really sorry I missed you, I was on the NCT stand.

I had a great time at the show and talking to people on the NCT stand.

Mocha: Lauren is gorgeous.

And gues what , I got home and my brother had a little announcement! Wish I had known before I could have spent some money!

Is it not really horrendous? Loads of screaming babies and back packs and stuff?

Mocha · 31/05/2003 22:38

SueW & Leese, how did things go today?

Bobsmum · 01/06/2003 14:06

I had a great time - even dh said he had a really good day. spent far too much dosh and am ashamed to say i did not buy the mumsnet book, even at knock down bargain price - sorry!
did get many many bargains and freebies though - mainly by accosting stand owners who sent me free tickets!
got 2 totsbots red wraps which are yummy and far too much green baby stuff. Eventually ds was removed from his pushchair in order to stack it high with stuff! - hurrah!
nice to meet SueW and Leese too!
