How do you feel about people parking over your drive?

Every bugger that seems to visit our road for whatever reason seems to park over my drive - why?

Im expecting someone to come over to look at my car door and although Im parked on the drive I would expect him to park over my drive. Only someone else has come along and parked over it therefore stopping me getting off and preventing my visitor from parking there. RANT!

Gobbledigook · 06/05/2005 12:46

Nobody does park over mind but it would drive me insane if they did.

jampots · 06/05/2005 12:47

I dont even know where the offender has gone so cant knock on any doors.

I will put snotty note on his/her windscreen

I go mad I really hate it! We have childminders on the street and the parents often do this when picking up and dropping off - the CM's ask them not to, and I appreciate its not their fault but it does annoy me
I go out and catch them - they are usually embarrassed enough not to do it again, though one father once told me to P* off, (infront of his child!) and mind my own business, cheeky sod!

Twiglett · 06/05/2005 12:48

they are only allowed to park over a drive if there's no car in it, otherwise I thought it was illegal and you could get them towed?

WigWamBam · 06/05/2005 12:48

We have a teacher next door who does after school private tuition, three or four kids at a time, and there is always one of the parents parked across our drive. Sometimes I have to go and and tell them off because not only do they park across" the drive, some of them actually park on* it because their precious offspring can't possibly walk for 20 feet to where the nearest available parking space might be.

The same woman has a very wide drive, they can get 5 cars on it at any one time, yet her private visitors always, without fail, park across my drive, which is a single car width.

Drives me mad, too.

sweetmonkey · 06/05/2005 12:48

What really bugs me is that half the time there's no-one else parked anywhere on the street - and they still have to park across my drive.

tillykins · 06/05/2005 12:52

you could pop something else thru the sunroof too, if you are feeling really naughty

jampots · 06/05/2005 12:55

tilly - you are like an devil sitting on my shoulder urging me on. do you not know I need no encouragement to be mischeivous ?

sweetmonkey · 06/05/2005 12:56

moondog · 06/05/2005 12:58

I'd key the bloody thing next time...

Nemo1977 · 06/05/2005 12:59

oo i hate that silly people especisally those who deny access to ur own house..lol

moondog · 06/05/2005 12:59

Good rule-always have a crap car so that if necessary, you can vandalise cars of people who have pissed you off over parking issues with gay abandon!!

Janh · 06/05/2005 13:01

does your drive have a white line across the end, jampots?

SoupDragon · 06/05/2005 13:05

Pop something through the sunroof with a note saying "I would have taken this to the dump had I been able to get my car out of my driveway"

norash40 · 06/05/2005 13:05

someone pass me a gun! I have terrorised so many people on my road for doing this they don't do it anymore.

Last time someone did they almost ended up with wet interiors, next time it will not be just water . The time before that I put a note on there windscreen using double sided carpet tape ( I would like to know how they got that out. )

Honestly I don't know how people can be soooooooo inconsiderate.

jampots · 06/05/2005 13:10

no I dont Jan - why?

OP posts:
Janh · 06/05/2005 13:13

That will be why people feel they can park there - if you had a white line you could call the police to them. You can get one painted but you have to pay. (I think that's right anyway, based on the behaviour of an obsessive old man who lives near our primary school!)

JoolsToo · 06/05/2005 13:15

Twiglet - that's what I though too!

sorry girls but I bet its a woman! (I'll eat my hat if it isn't - honest )

swiperfox · 06/05/2005 13:22

Good job you dont live in our house!! We haven't got a drive and its a really old street so the pavementis about a foot wide so all the cars that park outside our house are right bang in front of our window - drives me mad !!

jampots · 06/05/2005 13:24

well HE'S just gone. He was with my next door neighbour who also parks over my drive if he cant park directly outside his house but wont get a drive himself. To make matters worse there is a parking space available directly opposite my house which he could have used.

As my road is closish to the town centre quite often TC workers park their cars on my road (legally I might add) and there is a little group of people who egg their cars or last week put a bollard on top of a worker's car and leave snotty notes. I just want to scream BUT THEY'RE PARKED LEGALLY!!!! Nowt so queer as folk
