How do you feel about people parking over your drive?

Every bugger that seems to visit our road for whatever reason seems to park over my drive - why?

Im expecting someone to come over to look at my car door and although Im parked on the drive I would expect him to park over my drive. Only someone else has come along and parked over it therefore stopping me getting off and preventing my visitor from parking there. RANT!

i was told if they are actually blocking the entrance to your drive, which means you cant gain access, then they are committing an offence. If they are parked opposite the drive, but still restricting your access, then there is nothing to be done.

I am especially angry as there is so much parking space along where we live and there is almost always space to park.

But noooooooooo! they just have to park bang infront of my gate. No way in or out.

Highway code 217 Do not park in front of an entrance to a property

here

you could print it off and stick that thru his sunroof next time

annoys the crap out of me. would have knocked on all the neighbours doors or sat in my car with the horn pressed til someone came out.

You could always key it.

I came home once to find someone had parked diagonally across my neighbours and my own drive. I knocked on their door and asked their 'visitor' very politely to move their fucking car off my drive. How Cheeky! Next door don't even have a car!!! what one very old escort is too big for a driveway now is it? And just how do you make an escort big enough to block two whole driveways?!!

...And off my soapbox I get...

We have sufficient space on our drive for 4 cars so even when "entertaining" we can accomodate most of our visitors without affecting anyone.

If the sunroof is open id be tempted to release the handbrake and move the car.
if not id rock it until the alarm sounded and the owner came out.

piffpaffpuff · 06/05/2005 13:52

and get yourself arrested

jampots · 06/05/2005 13:53

well he's gone now but he'd better not be back HD because I would be tempted

arrested for setting off his alarm? it went off when i was looking through the window to see who might own it, officer. anyway if he moved it i wouldn't have to look would i?

The old man who used to live opposite me used to phone the police every time someone parked across his drive & they did come out, despite the fact that he had no car,so wasn't blocked in.

I know the police took it seriously as they knocked on alll the doors on the street to find out whose car it was.

Yes, it is very annoying. We have a wide drive which we park both our vehicles on lengthways. You can fit two cars on the road in front and usually on a Friday (market day) there will be a car parked there. Technically I can usually pull out past them and have never been blocked in when I needed to get out but it is still very annoying! The double yellows stop where our dropped kerb begins and I think they see that as a sign of it being ok. Whenever I've caught someone parking there and spoken about it they always seem really surprised and look around to see if there are any restriction signs. Surely a dropped kerb and two parked vehicles would be enough of a sign? They're just lucky it's not the cumbersome camper van that I'm trying to wiggle out past their car.
Grrrrr!!!!
