Last week a 5 year old choked on her school dinner at a local school, today we recieved a letter from Ds' school telling us that she has sadly died, Herts CC have removed the food she choked on from their menus and given talks to the children about this.
So sad

what food was it?

the other kids at the school must be distraught. we considered the school for dd1 but would've had to change our religious views.

Did they not have someone who could do First Aid at the school? What was it she choked on, do you know? How very, very sad.

sparklymieow · 03/05/2005 16:11

we weren't informed what it was, just that it has been removed from the menus.

she choked last monday, the sun said she died on weds. How awful and tragic. she is the same age as my dd1 and mieows dd1. she hasnt been named so we dont know who it is, or if we know the family at all.

sandyballs · 03/05/2005 16:13

The papers said it was a meat ball.

sparklymieow · 03/05/2005 16:13

How awful . Poor little girl, and her family.

I remember a girl at my infant school being rushed to hospital at lunchtime - some roast lamb became tangled and trapped in her throat - very very frightening. Tha ambulance crew managed to save her, after staff had tried.

wasn't it daytime queen trisha who recently did the heimlich manoeuvre in a restaurant?

misdee · 03/05/2005 16:15

it was in the sun yesterday, dad pointed it out to me whilst i was at the hospital. forgot to tell you, sorry.

sparklymieow · 03/05/2005 16:19

I read it in today's Daily Mail - I think her name was Hannah.

sparklymieow · 03/05/2005 18:06

Ds keepsa asking about it, I think the school should have informed us before telling the children this terrible news.

How awful.

morningpaper · 03/05/2005 20:54

Wonder what it was? Must have been pretty SERIOUS if trained first aiders weren't able to help.

Very sad indeed.
