Hi, I bought this dress of e-bay a while ago for my daughter. It's far too big for her really, about ancle length. We could try and take it up from the sholders. It looks better on her than the girl in the picture, as my daughter has long aubern hair.

it'this one: childrensalon.com/product_info.php?cPath=4423_5195_5196&products_id=10692

I really love this dress by Jottum, although it's far too expencive really. She has 2 weddings to go to and one prize giving day and christmas party etc. (just trying to justify it)

Please let me know what you think.

I prefer the first one. The second one is a bit to frilly and ruffly (if thats a word) for my taste.

ahundredtimes · 07/05/2009 10:30

I don't know.

Sorry that is unhelpful, I am sitting here imagining what it might be like to have a dd who would wear such a thing. My dd looks like this www.akeretfilms.com/cowgirl.jpg

mummyloveslucy · 07/05/2009 10:33

Thanks TisalinaBumsquash, it would save me a lot of money too.

Lol at ahundredtimes link.

I'm not keen on either TBH, a bit wishy-washy for my taste. Was it you who linked to the spotty dress with the sash last week (Jools, possibly?)? That one was beautiful.

norktasticninja · 07/05/2009 10:36

Ah, yes, it was you. I mean this one, did you decide against it? (Too lazy to read the whole old thread )

princessmel · 07/05/2009 10:36

I'd go for something with colour.

How old is she?

princessmel · 07/05/2009 10:37

Like the Joules one.

mummyloveslucy · 07/05/2009 10:37

Most people thought the jules dress wasn't really special enough for my sisters wedding. I'm still getting it, as a summer dress though.

My daughter suits dresses like this as she's very lady like and looks like a little cherub.

I want this for dd.

mummyloveslucy · 07/05/2009 10:41

Thanks, the next one is pretty. I just wanted something a bit more special.
I think every little girl at the wedding will be wearing either next or monsoon. I love the vintage look too.

OP posts:
OrmIrian · 07/05/2009 10:42

Sorry but I don't much care for either.

First one for preference I guess.

ramonaquimby · 07/05/2009 10:46

I think little girls in any sort of dress look pretty - nice tidy shoes and combed hair - those first 2 dresses are really quite expensive for what they are - save your money for when she is older!

mummyloveslucy · 07/05/2009 10:46

That's amazing that no one's keen on the Jottum one. To me it's a dream dress.
I am very femanin though, and like dresses with detail and twurl.

OP posts:
mummyloveslucy · 07/05/2009 10:49

Thanks, I did buy the first on e-bay though.
I think the first dress with white tights and shoes, combed hair etc will be fine then.

OP posts:
TheGoat · 07/05/2009 10:51

i think both dresses are fairly twee and the prices are ridiculous. the joules one is much nicer.

mummyloveslucy · 07/05/2009 10:52

Oh!

OP posts:
mummyloveslucy · 07/05/2009 10:54

I think I'll keep looking then.

OP posts:
Yurtgirl · 07/05/2009 10:54

I dont really like either of your origonal links, especially at those prices!

I like this in the "spa" colour

mummyloveslucy · 07/05/2009 10:57

The wedding colours are cream and deep purple. It's a but vintage too.

my dd is a tombuy, but i have a fab dress for her, which she also loves. it is one of those chinese type dresses, with a dragonfly print on it. it's gorgeous and quite eclectic. i got it on ebay. it's special and always gets lovely comments.

islandofsodor · 07/05/2009 11:13

The first one is lovely. I don't like the second one much.

I wouldn't pay those prices though!!!

mummyloveslucy · 07/05/2009 11:15

I got the first one on e-bay for £23. That's more like it.

It is raw silk though, that's why it costs so much.

OP posts:
mummyloveslucy · 07/05/2009 11:18

I'm glad someone likes it.
It does look much better on my daughter, it suits her much better.

OP posts:
mummyloveslucy · 07/05/2009 11:21

Oh and my daughter is only 4. I don't think it's a good look for a girl of about 10.
