What was the first record/cd/etc you bought?

Mine was War by Edwin Starr. This sounds quite cool, but wasn't - I stood terrified with my friend in the record shop. She told me to buy that and then we could get out, so I did. Circa 1975. Took me a number of years to appreciate the song.

I am also off to bed, but my last post (and most shaming, record-wise) is the brief love I had with a Scottish lad who had a thing for the Bay City Rollers - we parted and he gave me a vinyl single - Summerlove Sensation. I kept it, and played it for ages. Heavens, it was an awful record

The first single I bought was by Barry Manilow, first album by Abba (Super Trouper). That would have been 1980. I no longer have either - thrown out when I was about 14 (3 years later) - but we've bought most of Abba's albums on CD, though the now lost list of our CD collection (the computer crashed) indicated that the Abba CDs belong to dp.

We also have an Adam and the Ants compilation.

I've put Abba on my ipod but not Adam & the Ants, though I have quite a lot of compilation CDs which include some very embarrassing things, stuff I never even liked at the time etc, and some of those are on the Ipod.
