Once in the morning, once in the afternoon.

JohnnyTwoHats · 13/03/2009 12:25

He is a driving instructor.
He is overweight snd wears tracksuit bottoms.
And yes, EVERY DAY.

My opposite neighbour is in love with cars. They have FOUR cars and wash them all the time, they just love it. Very strange! Well not my cup of tea anyway!

I would find even once a day slightly odd, but it is twice a day that gets me.
It's not even as if it gets muddy.

BF suggested it might be because he doesn't like speaking to his wife

OP posts:
skramble · 13/03/2009 12:29

well if he is a drving instructor and uses it for his job I kimdof get that, he wants to create a good impression but twice a day, how dirty can it get?

GetOrfMoiLand · 13/03/2009 12:30

What has tracksuit bottoms got to do with it? Giggling at that

TsarChasm · 13/03/2009 12:30

Is he old? I think sometimes older people fill up their day with projects like this.

JohnnyTwoHats · 13/03/2009 12:30

It doesn't. Are we agreed then? OCD?

OP posts:
JohnnyTwoHats · 13/03/2009 12:31

@The tracksuit bottoms are relevant because his arse falls out of them and i can see it from my window. And when it's a saturday morning and I have a hangover i really don't want a fat stranger's arse in my face.

OP posts:
thumbwitch · 13/03/2009 12:32

because he is a driving instructor and it is his work "prop".
I would assume the trackies are because he doesn't want to muck up any decent clothes he might have.

It is a bit OCD but a nice courtesy for his pupils to be getting into a gleaming car. Plus an excuse to remind them not to trash it!

AMumInScotland · 13/03/2009 12:33

He's keeping out of the house. I've got a neighbour who seems to live in his garage...

JohnnyTwoHats · 13/03/2009 12:35

Thumbwitch- yes but how dirty does it get in between parking it for the night and going out again in the morning? Once a day I could understand.

OP posts:
thumbwitch · 13/03/2009 12:39

dunno JTH - is it parked outside or in a garage?
Do you have particularly malevolent birds in the vicinity? .

If it was morning and lunchtime it would make more sense than at the beginning and the end of the working day.
Perhaps he thinks it is more human and needs a shower twice a day?
Is it a Toyota Yaris, by any chance?

Fimbo · 13/03/2009 12:42

My mil's neighbour does this. Drives it out the garage, washes and polishes it to about an inch of its life (well if a car had a life) and then puts it back in the garage again. You can set your watch by him.

Mil swears he needs a couple of grandchildren, that would soon cure him.

TheThoughtPolice · 13/03/2009 12:44

OCD ?

JohnnyTwoHats · 13/03/2009 12:44

that anyone would think it was normal to wash a car BD!

It is once at about quarter to nine (I know because it's always when I am on school run) and once when he returns for the evening- any time between about four and six. It is parked outside, but so is mine, and believe me, it cannot get that messy.

Othersideofthechannel · 13/03/2009 12:45

I don't get the Toyota Yaris reference.

georgimama · 13/03/2009 12:46

I've got a nieighbour who spends all day fiddling with his car - bonnet up, revving, cleaning, just generally tittifying it for no apparent reason.

It goes, so it's not as if he is doing it up as a project. I assume he is avoiding someone indoors.

JohnnyTwoHats · 13/03/2009 12:46

No, nor do I. It isn't (a Yaris) though

OP posts:
ingles2 · 13/03/2009 12:47

Well, because he wants it to look smart for work I would have thought.....

thumbwitch · 13/03/2009 12:48

tv ad for toyota yaris - "you could love it too much"

JohnnyTwoHats · 13/03/2009 12:49

But Ingles
It is getting washed twice before work- once when he gets home and once before he leaves.

OP posts:
Othersideofthechannel · 13/03/2009 12:51

Oh, I don't watch TV (and even if I did it might not be the same ad here)

It's just that we're going to buy one once our loan is sorted and after having the mick taken out of me for having a boyfriend with a Ford Cortina (years ago) want to be fully aware of any 'reputation' the car may have.
