Views on if there's an age limit to breastfeeding in public

I am totally for breastfeeding for as long as you are able / want to do it. So have no issues with extended breastfeeding (probably would put a cut off before 3 though)

I do however think that once a baby is no longer reliant on breast milk, and is totally weaned (probably around a year when it progresses to being a toddler) that it becomes a far more private affair between mother and toddler and should remain in the home (morning and night feeds)

So at what stage does a baby no longer need milk during the day? I think from a year. I think from a year is too old to offer a breast in public. And think especially if a toddler can walk, talk, pull up your top and accept a beaker then I think that's too old to breastfeed in public

your opinion is?

You can join in emkana but only if you're silly.

hunkersneakymunker · 14/04/2005 22:52

Emkana, how about if I say that I'm going to make DS nurse till he's ten, whether he likes it or not, and in front of his mates (should he ever have any because his mum is a weird boob-thruster)?

binkybetsy · 14/04/2005 22:52

Everyone looks very ...um...surprised!

marthamoo · 14/04/2005 22:54

I liked Cod running in shouting "Bitty!" and running out again.

Someone's going to tell me off soon for messing with a serious thread.

emkana · 14/04/2005 22:55

One of my fondest memories is how both my dd's begged me on their first birthday to let them stop b/feeding - both times I fell on the floor, distraught, and made them promise that they would carry on feeding for my benefit

And here's something to shock you all like you've never been shocked....

I still feed dd2 to sleep at night - she's 20 months.
Yes, that's true - she falls asleep on the breast and then I put her down.

Who will dial 999, ey?

hunkersneakymunker · 14/04/2005 22:55

Marthamoo, you're messing with a serious thread. Stop it.

Mud started it and she's long gone.

whatsername · 14/04/2005 22:57

Yeah, but eggs are hens periods, how's that for gross?

binkybetsy · 14/04/2005 22:57

errr!

marthamoo · 14/04/2005 22:59

I get my eggs from Tesco, they're not the hen type.

JoolsToo · 14/04/2005 23:00

bb - saw the face peel and penis reduction and the bum implants - its all yuk - I tape it and watch it on fast forward

(I've only come back to check out something at Ikea!)

marthamoo · 14/04/2005 23:02

Someone had a penis reduction? Pray tell, Jools...

paolosgirl · 14/04/2005 23:02

Talking of yuk, why do some eggs have that little red blob in the white? I've never quite understood the whole hens eggs business

bubble99 · 14/04/2005 23:04

That, my dear, is an embryonic chicken.

marthamoo · 14/04/2005 23:04

I fish that out, pg. I assume it's the would have grown into a chick bit? Though that doesn't make much sense. It's the period bit? Oh I dunno. Don't put me off eggs now.

marthamoo · 14/04/2005 23:04

Thanks bubble

binkybetsy · 14/04/2005 23:05

I thought it might be interesting but tbh it's like watching road kill struggle. It's like real life nip/tuck without the storyline. Mind you the woman whose having everything done after losing so much weight has to be admired, I think.

JoolsToo · 14/04/2005 23:06

its a new procedure moo - looked horrendous - but first they had to show penis enlargement another yucky procedure and not a very pretty result and they said that some of the fat can disperse or die off leaving you with a lumpy willy which looks even worse and it nigh impossible to remove the rest of the implant - yuk

what about silicone implants in bums - oh and reshaping your navel - why?

JoolsToo · 14/04/2005 23:08

the guy with the face peel - that really was something else - even the nano second I saw - was a ladyboy wanting to look more female - he had boob implants and a nose job at the same time - sad really

marthamoo · 14/04/2005 23:08

I've never understood why women have their vaginas "reshaped" for cosmetic reasons. I mean, maybe I'm sheltered, but how many people ever see it?

JoolsToo · 14/04/2005 23:08

fuuny you should say that - that's tonights topic!

binkybetsy · 14/04/2005 23:09

gynaecologic surgery ffs...WHY!

marthamoo · 14/04/2005 23:09

I think I'll give it a miss.

binkybetsy · 14/04/2005 23:10

I should've taped this and watched on f/forward.
