Wondered if anyone has any favourite websites (other than mumsnet of course!)

Through mumsnet I have found the strangely addictive flylady.net (a housekeeping site - don't ask and I can't even remember who recommended it!) and some excellent australian children's clothes websites - thanks to those mums netters too.

Is anyone else bored enough on a Saturday night to add to this thread?

You can go into that website and see who the most recent searches were for, Saddam Hussain was there and so was osama Bin Lardin! Now there's Tony Blair, Homer Simpson, Alan Shearer and Mike Hunt!!!

Kathleen · 08/04/2003 12:02

Wow, that site is addictive. I'm also one of a kind but only because my name has an unusual spelling. The usual spelling has 469 holders!

shelleyb · 08/04/2003 12:13

Kathleen, thank you, thank you. The televisionwithoutpity.com website is brilliant. i taped over last weeks boomtown by mistake and was gutted. At least now there is less chance of dh divorcing me when I lose the end of something (of course it would never happen if he did it, that is if he actually knew how to set the video )

GeorginaA · 08/04/2003 12:33

Oooo Bobbins! Is Scaryduck as funny in the flesh?

sis · 08/04/2003 14:16

Oooh, I'm the only person with my name too! okay, not really that surprising as I have both an unusual first name and surname.

SoupDragon · 08/04/2003 15:12

Wahey! I'm unique too!!

SoupDragon · 08/04/2003 15:13

(there are 13 unfortunate people with the short version of my maiden name and 4 with the short version of my married name though)

janh · 08/04/2003 18:01

Bobbins, thanks for the Mil Millington site, I used to love his columns in the Guardian (for some reason I put garden before I previewed, very strange!)

Does he still have pink hair, I wonder?

My DH doesn't exist on yournotme unless I put his Sunday name in - then there are about 450 of him!

nerdgirl · 08/04/2003 20:07

'Jane Austen' - what can I say? I am addicted to the fan fiction on this site. If you like a bit of mushy romance, this is the place!

nerdgirl · 08/04/2003 20:09

'Salon' - good American magazine on the web

nerdgirl · 08/04/2003 20:10

'Ain't it cool' - Harry Knowles famous website for all really cool movies and TV shows.

Gem13 · 08/04/2003 20:21

I use allmusic.com a lot to get some inspiration when I'm feeling bored with my cd collection. It gives recommendations for 'best' albums by a particular group and 'see also'. In a try-before-you-buy fashion I then listen to soundclips on cdnow.com (now part of Amazon).

Does anyone know the baby site which is based on celebs and their babies - due dates, names, etc.? I came across it when I was pregnant and haven't been able to find it again.

soyabean · 08/04/2003 20:33

Furball Yes my name really is very unusual isnt it... There can't be many others with your name either.
But I have been wondering about the other two with my name, as I have rarely met anyone that shares either part, let alone both.
meid, wonder why dh isnt on it as he is on the elctoral roll. Will check again

bossykate · 08/04/2003 20:44

there is only one other person with my name - rarer than "wingnuts on a wombat" according to the site!

which means i might be related to them and not know...!

GeorginaA · 08/04/2003 21:10

Another vote for www.salon.com - it's a rare week I haven't read at least a couple of articles from there.

Angiel · 08/04/2003 21:33

I don't exist apparently and dh is 1 of 2!

Rhiannon · 08/04/2003 21:35

www.ukparents.com, not the chat as it's better on here, but the buy/sell/wants. You have to click on Our Forums to have a look.

Linnet · 08/04/2003 22:07

There is no-one else in the uk with my dd full name, I'm impressed. but if it's taken from the electrol role then I'm not surprised. Her first name is a name that is starting to become more common now. When she was born we knew of no others but now we know of about 6 litle girls with the same name. Good fun though I love sites like these, I'm easily pleased, lol

Lollypop · 08/04/2003 22:27

Cool, There's only 7 of me! A bit worried that there are 104 of my FiL and they say that more people probably die poking spoons into the back of their PC's every year! That's a lot of frazzeled people.

willow2 · 09/04/2003 12:10

www.tvgohome.com or co.uk
very funny

Tinker · 09/04/2003 14:29

Pah! There's 146 of me!!!

Bozza · 09/04/2003 17:09

Two others with my name, one with DH's and none with DS's. Its the surname that does it - none of us have unusual first names.

Bozza · 09/04/2003 17:10

104 of my maiden name though.

Bugsy · 10/04/2003 09:49

Sites I like: iVillage.co.uk, Streetmap.co.uk and Tesco.com
As for names - unique, like a Yeti apparently!!!

misspastry · 11/04/2003 21:10

I am so thrilled ds is unique, who'd have thought it, does anyone know good british arts and craft sites I only seem to find american sites, just like doing soft furnishings, patchwork etc.
