I have just changed to pay it monthly by direct debit, and it's £90, they said my average per month (Winter and summer) was £86. just wondered what everyone else pays, and if I am 'normal!'

£33 for electricity.

£119 for gas but that is because thanks to ex I have arrears to pay off.

We're doing £90 atm , just changed provider so time will tell if it is enough. atm I think our gas is that alone

LoveMyLapTop · 10/01/2009 13:18

£60 electric
£45 gas
4 bed detaches, open plan living area , which is difficult to keep warm.

moose - it depends how they arrive at an average of £86?

The company would much rather they had your money in thier bank account earning them interest

So you may find that their average is rather higher than any other mathamatician would arrive at

I am with EDF and the last two years have been £150-180 in credit

Apparently there is only £0 per year difference beteen all the suppliers.

The charging is that complicated or the first units used and then the units used after that and then VAT going on and now of course VAT in part coming of the bill.

I have moved and just put my new gas bill on direct debit
The woman on the end of the line at BG at first said:

"oh that will be £79 per month"
me: " that's a lot"
her: "how about £59 then"

electricity is £33 per month direct debit

Sure the bills will be in debit come the summer.

God, this thread depresses me...

E.ON yet again have messed our account up and we are in debt by around £1000.
They say our normal consumption for gas ALONE is £90 and due to the debt we now pay around £150 a MONTH for GAS and will be doing so the next 2 yrs .

Electric we pay an extra £50.

to those of you who pay much less...

LoveMyLapTop · 10/01/2009 15:11

gosh shhhh thats terrible

yup it is....thing is 2 years ago they messed up by "fudging" the system and the readings I was giving them. Instead of using the 5 didgets they entered 4 which only came to light after 2 yrs and I finally got someone who knew their job.
I had ben paying £5 mthly which I disputed but nooone took it further iykiwm.
This was sorted and I should have watched the account and give regular reading etc BUT ds was born around this time and has been v ill since (born with a disorder) and the gas account was the last thing on my mine.

Turns out they had been estimating my bills for 2 yrs, readers would not locate my meter and had the meter registered to another property....so they wrote to me after 2 yrs telling me this and asking for a reading which I gave promptly, only to be told I owe £1000 .

Basically they place the blame on me (yes partly I agree, but surely its their job as my gas supplier to get readings esp after 2 yrs!?)

Im disputing it now. The least I expect is for bill to be split 50/50. Who on earth wants to pay the debt of their gas bill over 2 yrs..?. WHILE mounting up current consumption...

I pay £95 combined with e-on for a 4 bed detached with 2 adults and 2 kids. It is managed online though so no paper bills and that is what makes it a bit cheaper.

fryalot · 10/01/2009 20:26

We pay £100 a month for electric.

We don't have gas.

We also pay £100 a month for coal through the winter.
