Right MNers. While it's not my favourite shop in the world and it's business strategy is probably a bit screwed up; I think it's going to be a sorry day if Woolies leaves the high street.

I have just been for a last-ditch supportive shop and strongly suggest you do the same if you can this week.

You could get some gift-wrap, chrimbo cards or bargainiferous toys, a lady-themed toolkit or a strange gimmicky household cleaning item. C'mon!

I really can't believe it is closing down .

abraid · 27/11/2008 13:42

It will only close down if a buyer can't be found. See my post above.

on the radio, they suggested that if you have ever nicked something from woolies, you should go in today, purchase something, then add on the amount of the item stolen. would probably swell profits enough to keep it afloat.

Do all Woolies have a major problem with theft then? The precinct where I work is a shoplifters playground at this time of year

KatieScarlett2833 · 27/11/2008 17:00

I went to our local Woolies today. The lady on the till said that today was the busiest day she can remember in years.

paddingtonbear1 · 27/11/2008 17:16

I like woolies too, the branch nearest us is usually busy when I go in.
I like getting toys from there, but last week the shelves were half empty!

PeachyAndTheSucklingBas · 27/11/2008 17:41

I nearly went in and bought the staff a tin of roses to cheer them up but DH says that makes me a (quote) 'freaking loon'

still I do feel sorry for them
