hello there,

does anyone out there have this problem where people questions whether your child is a girl or a boy? My 32-month- old looked exactly like her daddy and has really curly hair..as the result her hair does not get long. People question me all the time whether she is a boy or a girl. When I told them that she is a girl, they will have this puzzled look like they don`t believe me or something. And many times they would say..Oh, she look like a boy. Even when she is wearing girlie cloths people would still ask me this stupid question . Quite frankly I am tired of this. I feel like I have to prove that she is indeed a girl to people. How do you respond to this rude uninvited comments.

Umi

To clarify, almost all comments made by people about our dd are happy, conversational and not rude. We reply with thanks and smiles as we are pleased that they took the time to comment. However a few people are rude, we just don't let them get away with it. What's so wrong with that?

SeaShells · 16/03/2005 11:13

What exactly do they say though HD, to warrent such a vicious response?

Pinotmum · 16/03/2005 11:13

Happydaddy, put the shovel away you've gone deep enough

PuffTheMagicDragon · 16/03/2005 11:13

Agree HD, if people are downright rude, they need telling!

HappyDaddy · 16/03/2005 11:16

SS it's not what they say, so much as the way they say it. Some people like being rude as they don't expect any come back.

HappyDaddy · 16/03/2005 11:16

Pinotmum - I think I can get my other foot in mymouth if I stretch...

SeaShells · 16/03/2005 11:18

Well don't sink to their level, if people want to be like that leave them to it, rise above it and walk away! You know you're DD is beautiful and that's all that matters!

Pinotmum · 16/03/2005 11:30

Poor Happydaddy [sigh]

handlemecarefully · 16/03/2005 11:35

Happydaddy - note to self.

Don't overjustify your position when challenged over a perhaps ill advised throw away comment - just skulk off quietly and let it all blow over. I do!

HappyDaddy · 16/03/2005 12:21

handlemecarefully, that's my problem. I can't help answering back. I learned it from rows with my must have the last word dw.

marialuisa. I know of a couple of girls call Bailey so I'm glad I wasn;t in your situation when gender guessing.

My son was once called a girl when he was a baby and wearing a "little Man" t-shirt someone had got him!
