Thought I'd start the ball rolling here.
I'm easy on dates must say, 17th is St Patricks day actually so may come across lots of Guiness

Location is another matter as I'm ashamed to admit I still haven't got my driving licence ( embarassing at 30), although have test on 14th so maybe...
Reigate maybe Pizza Express would be my preference but I'll go with the majority...just looking forward to it

OK - IT'S BOOKED!!
Wednesday 19th March at The Old Bell, Oxted from 7.30 pm
(have booked a table for 8-9 maximum) although she did say it wasn't likely to be very busy mid-week.
Table is currently non-smoking - does this cause huge problems for anyone?

ANGELMOTHER · 12/03/2003 22:35

She's at the Baptist Church pre-school Sykes. It's been really great and she's loving it at the mo. She calls it her funny little school
Have a good night ladies, looking forward to hear how it goes..

sykes · 14/03/2003 13:14

I'll be doing both.

Mo2 · 14/03/2003 19:01

Both - definitely!

Mo2 · 14/03/2003 19:06

Quick roll-call girls...
This is the current list as far as I can make out...
Sykes; SB34; Pupuce; Dollymixture; Miriamw; Bumblelion; Eemie; me (Mo2)

ANY MORE TAKERS OUT THERE ?? (Come on, don't be afraid.....)

(Angelmother - hope all goes well with your trip back to Ireland...)

sykes · 17/03/2003 12:22

May have to pull out as my mother was taken in to East Surrey on Saturday and not sure how long she'll be there. It's difficult to visit as I work full time so it will have to be evenings. Am thinking about starting a thread on people who have parents with Alzheimers/dementia - not why she was admitted but accident caused by her dementia.

pupuce · 17/03/2003 22:05

Sykes - hope you're mum is OK??????

Your sentence struck a chord with me, my parents best friend died last week- he wasn't 70 and had alzheimer (very advanced stages).

Hope you can come - it will cheer you up????

Mo2 · 18/03/2003 09:50

Sykes - sorry to hear about your Mum - hope things are OK. If you can make it (even later?) just turn up - we'd love to see you...

Everyone else still OK for tomorrow?

pupuce · 19/03/2003 08:03

OK - never been in Oxted... is the pub easy to find?

pupuce · 19/03/2003 12:18

Also I'll be there before 7:30 and I am wearing a jumper with navy and beige stripes... I am likely to be there first!

Bumblelion · 19/03/2003 12:53

I will be there wearing blue suit (coming near enough straight from work).

Where exactly is it? Do sort of know Oxted - I will be coming from the A22 onto the A25. Is it in Old Oxted (should be easy to find if it is) or Oxted?

Does anyone from Carshalton want a lift?

Mo2 · 19/03/2003 13:28

Great!
Checked with SB34 last night and she'll definitely be there too.

The pub is in Old Oxted (different from Oxted generally)- it's virtually on the A25.
For a map check
here

I'll probably be there about 7.30 - not sure what I'll be wearing? (Black trousers probably)
Table is booked with the reference 'Mumsnet' so they should be able to point you in the right direction.
See you tonight!

Bumblelion · 19/03/2003 14:23

Just heard from ex-DH and he can't have the kids tonight - he always has them at my house on a Wednesday night but today, of all days, he has got flu, is off work and is not seeing the kids tonight.

I know he is ill and doesn't want to give it to the children, but

(1) It is my one night out (me being the selfish b*tch that he says I am!)

(2) He is not seeing them all weekend so that means they wouldn't have seen him since last Sunday until next Friday night.

Sorry, to let everyone down at the last minute - was looking forward to coming. Oh well, have to be next time.

(2)

sykes · 19/03/2003 14:36

That's too bad - hope to see you at some other point. I'm hoping to come as I visited my mother last night - just won't get to see the girls. Just so I know is everyone driving/is anyone intent on having a few drinks - don't mean to sound like an alky but am partial to a glass or two ....

Mo2 · 19/03/2003 16:06

oh...I think a few bevvies will be in order, Sykes!

Bumblelion - that really is too bad - we must make sure we have another one soon.

Bumblelion · 19/03/2003 16:55

Feel gutted I can't make it ... please have a drink (vodka and diet coke) for me. Thanks.

sykes · 19/03/2003 17:04

Excellent - I'm not driving. Also, have to go to a v quick work thing where there may be cocktails. I'll try not to turn up half cut - mind you it might help to break the ice ..... I'm v scruffily dressed - jeans, green v neck sweater.

miriamw · 19/03/2003 18:23

I may be stuck as DH has a late meeting, but hope to get along later. Won't be drinking :-( , and not sure what I may be wearing, but I'm 32 weeks pg, so have distinct bump!

Thanks to all those who came for such an enjoyable evening, especially Sykes who struggled to join us for the last half hour. If you knew how rarely I stay up till 11.30 at night you would think me a sad person. Great to put faces to names - could have talked longer if I could have stayed awake. Let's meet again. Good choice of pub too sb34 - would have enjoyed a drop of wine, I must try to think of somewhere we can meet without driving.

sykes · 20/03/2003 09:21

Thanks for the lift home and sorry I was so late -it was lovely to meet everyone.

Mo2 · 20/03/2003 09:24

Yes - it was fun wasn't it?!
Got home and DH was quizzing me, "what on earth do you talk about for 3 hours with people you've never met before?" can't say there seemed to be any problem on that front! Instead, as you say, Eemie, felt we could have gone on for a few more hours if the pub hadn't chucked us out... (by the way, can categorically say I haven't been in a pub til closing time for at least about 3 years, so I'm sad too...)
Let's do it again soon and hope the others can make it too.

ANGELMOTHER · 20/03/2003 18:56

Great to hear it went well everyone wait for me to get back for next one.
Still in Dublin but things going well. Am getting to meet up with people from soooo long ago
