Am I the only person who hates this programme, I don't like the presenter, the songs they sings, and most of all I hate the fact that I cant get the tune out of my head. Its only come back on cbeebies today and its getting on my nerves already.

Nutjob, who is Pipkins? I can barely remember Rentaghost, but know i loved it. At the minute I can't get enough of 'The Wild Thornberry's'. sad I know, but I love Saturday mornings when they are on, I snuggle up in bed with my two girls, whilst HE watches footie

jodee · 19/02/2003 08:12

Zingalong - absolute PANTS! Our favourite, Come Outside, has been axed (OK, I know they are old repeats) for this rubbish!

DS also likes some of the programmes on Nick Jr, (what's that one about a Ferocious Beast?) but I don't like it on for too long because of the brainwashing he gets from the adverts!

Nutjob · 19/02/2003 08:13

Pipkins was a chilrens programme set in a shop (not sure what sort of shop) and had lots of puppet characters, there was Hartley Hare, Topov the Monkey, Pig, Tortoise and Octavia the Ostrich, Mooney the Badger, a pigeon (I think!!) and a bloke called Johnny. I remember thinking it was hilarious when I was a kid!!

SoupDragon · 19/02/2003 08:16

Maggie and the Ferocious Beast is a favourite in our house too.

jodee · 19/02/2003 08:57

Ahh, that's it, thanks Soupdragon!

GillW · 19/02/2003 09:16

Wasn't it a puppet-makers shop in Pipkins?

Scatterbrain · 19/02/2003 09:49

And who loves the "oneaccount" ads with lovely old Hector and KiKi the frog - can't remember the cat's name - but Hectors House was my childhood fave !!

susanmt · 19/02/2003 12:19

Hate Zingalong - total rubbish. First time we've seen the TV this week (been travelling) and dd cried this morning when it came on instead of Come Outside. We love Balamory, and Story Makers and Fimbles but dd switches off the TV at Funny Lady and Ethelbert and Bob the Builder (it's silly mummy, trucks cant talk!).
Mind you, she thinks the 'on/off' switch on the tv is only the off switch and told me solemly last week that 'only mummies and daddies can put the telly on' Whew!

Yes! Me too - I have seen lots of Teletubbies but have no idea who the funny lady is.
I find that strange dancing teddy bear on the Teletubbies creepy, so if the funny lady is similar to that I'm glad I've missed it.

She's horrid !! Long blonde hair - sort of up in the front in that sloaney style (that I sometimes sport myself !) - weird tight pinafore dress thing - she sits in a wood or field and children come and have a kind of picnic with her - and she talks very patronisingly to them - I seem to remember she says "You're a naughty naughty naughty x " a lot in a really annoying voice !

Actually - I find the whole Teletubby thing spooky and worrying ! Hate the teddy bear, also the scottish man in a house - what's that all about ?

bundle · 19/02/2003 13:02

do you mean the teddy who has a straw boater & does a bit of a dance routine in a sort of merrygoround? I quite like him...

Chiccadum · 19/02/2003 13:09

Please someone, say you remember mooncat, I loved that but no-one seems to remember it

Scatterbrain · 19/02/2003 13:09

Yes that's the teddy - I remember thinking he was cute the first 45 times I saw him - but it's so monotonous now - they only seem to have about 5 things on rotation don't they ?

  1. Teddy bear on the carousel
  2. Animals coming two by two
  3. Sottish man in house
  4. Funny Lady
  5. Ummmmmm ??? Are there only 4 then ?
GeorginaA · 19/02/2003 13:37

You missed the 3 boats doing synchronized sailing (where I always make patronising comments about them about to crash and how the wake of one would probably sink the other) and the trees/pigeons one and the little bo peep one.

I like funny lady because she's bright and cheery, has a fun little rhyme, it's got repetetive elements in it which ds seems to enjoy and it's sufficiently silly to earn lots of giggles. Tamzin Griffin is actually a theatre and voice over actress - Tamzin Griffin .

musica · 19/02/2003 13:40

There's also the tree, and the very strange clouds that turn into transvestite Bo Peep and cockney sheep....

Do you think that Funny Lady looks as though she has got methylated spirits in her teapot - generally referred to as 'pissed lady' in our house - unfortunately even by ds now. Ds also loves the Little Bear Stories on Nick Jr at 18:30 which I don't mind - they're quite calming just before Kevin and bedtime.

GeorginaA · 19/02/2003 14:02

Yes, we're "Little Bear" before bed watchers too... lovely programme.

musica · 19/02/2003 14:10

Oh, and the scary bear and the scary lion.

I love the cockney sheep on teletubbies! "we are the sheep, we are the sheep". Never fails to make me smile.
