It is tipping down here in the City - I thought it never snowed in London

PiccadillyCircus · 22/02/2005 15:21

There is snow coming here in Hatfield in Herts.

Not sure what to do - don't want to get held up as DS is at nursery and don't want him to feel abandoned (well he probably wouldn't as he is 15 months but also not fair on nursery staff).

PiccadillyCircus · 22/02/2005 15:22

This snow looks a bit more like it means business .

woodpops · 22/02/2005 15:27

I was in Tesco a couple of hours ago and the snow was really coming down but now there is no sign and none on the ground. It's just teasing as my kids can't wait to go out and build a snowman !

woodpops · 22/02/2005 15:31

My ds can't either. He even packed a carrot into his nursery bag this morning as a nose for a snowman

Ahhh! Cute!

BEKsmum · 22/02/2005 15:32

Been snowing on and off all day in Bromley, but it's windy so it keeps getting blown away before it has time to settle.

There is a dirty great big black cloud heading this way at the moment so hopefully we'll get another dusting soon. Had enough this morning to make a snowman!!!

MrsDoolittle · 22/02/2005 21:11

Apparently, it is goping to snow lots tonight, and it it going to stick!!!!!!!!

suedonim · 22/02/2005 21:35

We seem to be having only nocturnal snow! It melts a bit during the day then falls again at night. Schools were shut today and probably again tomorrow, to judge by the blizzard falling atm!! At least I'll get a lie-in.

Slink · 23/02/2005 08:40

Just got an email from my uncle in Canada it is -26 and heavy snow....

fairydust · 23/02/2005 08:45

MrsDoolittle · 24/02/2005 12:37

We were told to expect it to come tipping down today.
It's raining now

marthamoo · 24/02/2005 12:38

nikcola · 24/02/2005 12:38

there is snow on the ground here in luton and its bloody frezzing x

maisystar · 24/02/2005 12:41

loads of snow in sheffield, about 3-4 inches on floor and still falling its the 'proper' crunchy stuff too. schools shut and stuff, very exciting

Easy · 24/02/2005 12:42

We had a good covering of about 1 1/2 " here this morning. It's kept snowing all day, but isn't getting any deeper, so I think it's bearly snow now, just nearly rain IYSWIM.

I'm not going out to check. My dodgy hips don't like slippery pavements.

MrsDoolittle · 24/02/2005 12:43

Damn it!!

LIZS · 24/02/2005 13:02

But why do the schools etc in UK shut down whenever the white stuff appears ? We've lived in Switzerland for 4 years and in all that time it has only shut once. ds' school is 10 miles away so the school bus has to run and the teachers/pupils come in from a huge area so it is not as if they can easily walk instead. We've unusually had snow on the ground almost constantly for about a month but only one or two days when the roads haven't cleared quickly. My db took an hour to do a 10 minute school run in Lincs yesterday - why ? It is going ot be one of those things I'll have trouble getting my head around when we return.

Anteater · 24/02/2005 13:07

Think is to do with litigation, we have a couple of inches here and all schools have shut down, coaches will not run etc.. Our school is open tho!

Anteater · 24/02/2005 13:12

ie blame the lawyers..
