Any ideas for our daughters new wendy house ??

Hi we have just had a gorgeous wooden wendy house built for our 3 year old daughter in our back garden. It is quite big and has an upstairs too. I just wondered if anyone has any ideas as to what to have inside it.
Also what to have outside as it as a verander. I'm going to have plant pots a wind chime and she has a peter rabbit and jemima puddleduck for the front from past times. I was wondering about firy lights for the evening?
I'd be rally greatfull for any ideas to make it fun for her. Thanks.

Does it have electricity running to it?
Can you fit some seating for her on the veranda?

My aunt built a lovely wooden wendy house in her orchard, under the apple trees, 20 years ago for her first granddaughter. My daughter and all other girls in the family adore it.

All the little girls love the curtains, mini table and chairs and teasets and the mini-housework stuff (feather dusters etc) inside it

Well it definitely has to have a little table and chair (Ikea do a lovely plain white one which you could leave or customise with pink or red gingham seat cushions and a table cloth).

Perhaps a shelf to hold "play china"?

Another shelf to hold "pretend" groceries?

Pretend brush and dustpan and brush;

Pink or red gingham curtains?

If it has an upstairs how two mini armchairs(look at Great Little Trading Co and numerous others) and two little mini beds for friends to stay.

A seat/combined with storage for dressing up clothes or soft toys??

I want to move in!!!

By the sound of it you could make a decent income renting it out.

saw some gorgeous mini-deckchairs (stripey) in a website recently - will try and find them - would be perfect for veranda

I an very pleased with it though. I love it more than my daughter. Anyway, lovely ideas. I didn't even think of curtains, the table cloth will have to match them of corse.
We are having a wendy house warming party too. All her little friends will come.

I would fill it with books, chocolate, cheesy wotsits and maybe the odd bottle of red

Kevlarhead- I have considered it! I don't think my daughter would be too impressed though. Nore would the tennants, as it has no toilet, no shower and nothing to cook on.

Well if it was my wendy house...I would require battery operated fairy lights, a bubble machine, a biscuit tin, a cushion to sit on, a window box and a wind up radio.

We have window boxes with geraniums, inside playkitchen ,teaset, chairs etc . Will she ever be outside in the dark to appreciate the likes of fairy lights ?

memoo- good idea. It even has a lock so that's a bonus.

sorry to be old f*rt but from safety angle - as she is only 3 - I would put the curtains on elastic and perhaps delay bunting for a couple of yrs

Sounds lovely, the fairy lights would be for our benefit as they would look nice in the evening when we're on the decking looking at the garden.

I get a bit carried away, I forget that it's hers sometimes.

three thousand time over...we got one for Ds about a year ago, second hand - I was all set to paint it prettily and fill it with gorgeous items. However immediately he got my mother to screw an old electric socket on the outside and stuck loads of trailing wires and crap boy stuff all over it, filled it with dried grass, and tied himself to a mini bench I also bought him in a moment of nostalgic sentimentality while doing 'brain operations' on himself.

We've just moved and brung it with us, so I have taken it in hand, it is now a nice red gloss with new perspex (old was shot to bits) and I gave him my old fairy lights (bulbs removed) to make it pretty. What did he do? Frankenstein experiments with said fairy lights wired to his head.

Oh well, I suppose he wanted to put his stamp on it. He sounds a real charactor , it's funny how boys and girls are soo different.
You should get yourself a little summerhouse, just for you and make it really pretty.

The dd's have one in our garden courtesy of great grandma (my nan who is a bit of a soft touch where the girls are concerned )

My Dad has laid laminate floor in it (left over form building job

He also made a shelf and that has their tea/coffee/sugar cannisters and ikea beakers and bowls on it.

They have the small ikea table and chairs in there, with tablecloth and curtains made by Nanny (my Mum)

Battery operated push light on the wall,

Flower doorbell (from poundland ),

Had a craft stall thing in local shopping centre so had a plaque made saying E & H playhouse and its all waterproof so thats on the front of the house plus a chrome door number (nothing like the number we live at but dd1 very insistent that she wanted a number 6)

Hanging basket and window box (although have
ad to take that down as dd2 kept walking into it (shes only 18months) they also have plant pots outside (donated by a great great uncle!!)

Got a fab mini hotpoint cooker that lights up and a sink with a mini fridge/dishwasher unit.

Finally some little basket with a plastic tea set for dd2 and a small china set for dd1 (again a poundland purchase so doesnt matter what happens to it)

My brother and his gf have bought dd1 a mini patio set for her birthday (in a few weeks) so that will go just outside

just been out there and realised theres also the ELC bbq in there (for storage!) and a vase with plastic flowers and a pink fluffy telephone on the table

eandh- Sounds gorgeous, love the doorbell idea and the plaque. I think I should take a trip to poundland. I got her a little flower plaque from there saying "welcome to my garden". I am really looking forward to adding the finnishing touches.
