Feeling so much less stressed after today. After months of things changing and nothing being settled, we have finally chosen and reserved our new home

For those interested, these are the details:

It is a stone, new-build 3 bed, 3 story town house.

Drive leading to single garage (17?5? x 8?7?), to right of house. Door into lobby of house from garage. Enclosed bin store by garage door.

Footpath leads to front door, and into lobby

Lobby leads into corridor. Off which is the downstairs cloakroom (6?9? x 2?10?). Also staircase. Ahead, door leads to utility room (6?7? x 5?10?) with door to garden. To the right of the corridor at back of house, door leads into family room (9?2? x 9?0?), which has french doors onto patio and then onto fenced, lawned garden.

Staircase leads up to first floor.

To the front of the house is an L shaped lounge/diner (17?5? x 16?1?). To the rear is a kitchen/breakfast diner (16?1? x 9?4?).

Staircase in landing leads to second floor.

To the rear of the house, on the right is the master bedroom (11?4? x 9?0?) with fitted wardrobes and en-suite shower room (6?8? x 5?10?). To the front of the house, to the right is bedroom two (8?9? x 8?4?) with fitted wardrobes. To the left is bedroom three (11?1? x 6?11?). A family bathroom (6?9? x 5?7?) is in centre of the house.

We will get to select:
? carpets/laminate/Kardeen flooring throughout
? tiling choices for cloakroom, bathroom and en-suite
? kitchen and utility units and work surfaces
? tiling for kitchen and utility

There are also other options we will look at too, such as:
? removing the fireplace (get credited for this as we don?t want one ? DH?s wants the space for his Plasma!)
? upgrading wardrobe doors (not likely to I don?t think)
? upgrading hob/oven/sink in kitchen from white to stainless steel (pretty likely we will)
? moving a unit to allow for fridge freezer, rather than separates (yes)
? purchasing a dishwasher as plumbing is already there (yes, definitely)
? possibly buy new fridge/freezer, washer and dryer (maybe, as ours are getting older)
? (maybe) put a shower over bath in family bathroom
? broadband point somewhere (if possible!)

Think that?s it!

It is very similar to this one for sale here.

3 bed town house

This one is in the very same new estate. Slightly cheaper than buying new, as there are still new ones (well, now 2 left) available. Other houses on estate are mainly massive 5 bed detached homes, and a few apartments.

Estate was an old isolation hospital. It is right on the very edge of Sheffield; next to the estate is the peak district! Estate is lovely and well thought out. Has lots of green areas, a village green, duck pond, bridle ways, children?s playground, mini football pitch and an all weather surface pitch. Both the primary and the secondary schools are very good.

So, very different from our city living, but very excited. It?ll be ready for around June time. We put our reservation fee down today, we go into to choose colours, etc. in two weeks and we exchange in 6 weeks.

All closely guarded secrets up there katzguk. Half the roads don't have signs on yet, so you have to get some kind of password to get in.

didn't you fancy the clock tower, Hulababy?

katzguk · 07/02/2005 16:22

hi purpleturtle - we met on mn at last!!!!

katzguk · 07/02/2005 16:22

meet even!!

purpleturtle · 07/02/2005 16:24

Sorry, meant to add it's miles out, past the golf club. I think you can get a bus nearly all the way out there, but I wouldn't like to guess how often they go.

We've got a friend who lives there. Gorgeous house. Even her pot plants co-ordinate with the decor. (Single person, need I add, I hate to think what colour we'd have to decorate to get all the kids' clutter to co-ordinate!)

purpleturtle · 07/02/2005 16:25

I'm supposed to be tidying up, pending the tea-cooking ritual. Can't be bothered. So here I am!

purpleturtle · 07/02/2005 16:26

And now I've been caught out, cos dh has come home early.

katzguk · 07/02/2005 16:26

ah ha! can't afford to move anyway

katzguk · 07/02/2005 16:27

Hulababy · 07/02/2005 16:30

purpletower - the clock tower looks fab doesn't it?

I gather you are local too, yes?

It's not that far out though. Only took us 10 minutes max. to get back into the city centre yesterday.

katzguk · 07/02/2005 16:31

Hulababy · 07/02/2005 16:32

OP posts:
katzguk · 07/02/2005 16:32

purpleturtle is local she's a good RL friend of mine!

katzguk · 07/02/2005 16:33

ah ha we will be able to visit you then can get a 51 easily

purpleturtle · 07/02/2005 16:33

Just seems a long way from Hillsborough - maybe because it's all uphill!
Not convinced the clock tower will ever sell. Anyone who wanted it would have to be pretty eccentric, wouldn't they?!

purpleturtle · 07/02/2005 16:34

katzguk, I'm sure you said you were going home.

katzguk · 07/02/2005 16:34

ooo are there online details for the clock tower i'm interested now!!

Purple - did you sort the telly? and are you free tomorrow? will ring later, gotta go DH just about to pick DD up form nursery and i can scronge a lift!!

Hulababy · 07/02/2005 16:35

Timetable for No. 51. See, pretty regular too 20 minutes from interchange right up there

OP posts:
Hulababy · 07/02/2005 16:36

I thought the clock tower had gone??? Isn't it a duplex apartment?

OP posts:
Hulababy · 07/02/2005 16:36

Ah, I see. That's how you know her then

OP posts:
lilibet · 07/02/2005 16:38

Well done Hula - it seems ages since I first saw you on a house selling thread! We have been let down twice with dp's house. The chain collapsed adn we had an offer withdrawn . Really hope everything goes well for you

Hulababy · 07/02/2005 16:39

Oh noghtmare lillibet. Our sale is still going through, just slowly. There are no probelms as such, but the guy buying (client of DHs) has so many hands in other stuff and he is tieying it alltogther.

OP posts:
purpleturtle · 07/02/2005 17:24

Maybe the clock tower has gone. It's a while since I last asked.

Hulababy · 07/02/2005 17:34

Not sure - I will check when I go to choose my colours, etc. in two weeks. TBH I am sure they only have 2 town houses left, and a couple of big 5 beds now. The end of the site is about June/July time. Think they still have the show house to release too.
