I've covered the whole plate in clingfilm and bunged it in the freezer!

Thanx for the info I THINK YOU HAVE JUST PUT ME OFF FISH 4 LIFE.

Levanna · 24/01/2005 22:47

Strangely Edam, I think I might just be a recent convert!
Socci, that's what I said (well more like "WTF is that doing there!"). I have no idea, maybe food safety at environmental health will be able to shed some light!

Aero · 24/01/2005 22:50

Maybe you'll get free fish and chips for life!!! Complete with free worm!

sparkle · 24/01/2005 22:50

Gross isn't it!

I have found worms in fish on two occasions, one being frozen breaded cod and the other in a fresh cod fillet from a fish counter. Apparently cod worms are very common and they lie along the belly of the fish and it is the cooking of it that makes them appear. Not supposed to do you any harm but imagine if you ate one by mistake. Needless to say I am now avoiding cod.

SPARKLER1 · 24/01/2005 22:53

I will never eat fish again.

fimblesfan · 24/01/2005 22:54

thanx sparkle you have made up my mind fish is definately off the menu 4 me in future.

Levanna · 24/01/2005 23:20

Aero, imagine! Unfortunately this has rendered me unable to eat anything other than McVities choccie digestives (oh, and hob nobs) for the forseeable future.
Sparkle that's awful! I had no idea this happens. Actualy makes me feel better - I have probably ingested loads of the little $ods before now, and they haven't done me any harm so far!

Levenna, at our local chippy they'd charge us extra for that.Think yourself lucky!!

Levanna · 25/01/2005 00:33

BGD, maybe it was a freebie....I hope the complaint process doesn't offend anyone there .

Ugh, that's put me off of chippie fish and chips. I'll stick to the mushy peas and mint sauce.

Though it appears disgusting the worms feed off of the fish, so even if you ate it, you are actually only eating fish (plus worm body). did they charge you extra for it?

Levanna · 25/01/2005 10:43

I don't know socci. Sounds like a parasitic worm rather than fish food, from what people have said.
Uuuurgh!

Levanna · 25/01/2005 10:49

like a caterpillar would only be a little bag of veg? Or a slug for that matter! It makes those bush tucker trials seem tame you've shattered the illusion mdw!

handlemecarefully · 25/01/2005 11:04

How big was it? - was it regular earthworm size or much smaller? If the former I would suspect foul play by some disgruntled employee at the chip shop. If the latter then probably the parasitic worms that peeps have been discussing.

You may poo poo this but I recently read about a successful prosecution of a pizza place where the employers had put fag ash etc on top of a pizza that they sold.
