Just curious, as I think I'd like a change...

Book Antiqua

I hate Times New Roman with a passion - no idea why - just do not like it as a font.

eidsvold · 04/05/2008 05:33

for personal letters - I sometimes use

Bradley Hand ITC

ChippyMinton · 04/05/2008 07:31

Arial for work, Bradley Hand ITC or Comic Sans MS for personal, invitations etc. Like Copperplate Gothic too.

SlightlyMadSweet · 04/05/2008 07:41

Arial for worky stuffy.

Comic sans serif for more personal stuff usually

popsycal · 04/05/2008 08:26

times new roman - always - for 'grown up stuff'

for work (school) I usually use comic sans and if for real littlies I use sassoon primary

WideWebWitch · 04/05/2008 08:45

Arial as it's san serif and easy to read. Plus I use a lot of spreadsheets and arial is a standard spreadsheet font.

I detest Times New Roman too eidsvold, I froth if anyone sends me stuff written with it.

Louise2004 · 04/05/2008 08:47

My top two general use fonts are Verdana and Trebuchet but I also like Book Antiqua, Tahoma and Georgia.

As a standard work one I prefer Arial to Times New Roman.

For fun emails (children's invitations etc.) I tend to use Kristen ITC, Monotype Corsiva, Curlz MT, Papyrus or Comic Sans MS.

Heifer · 04/05/2008 08:56

I like comic sans MS, especially for newsletters etc

roisin · 04/05/2008 09:06

I tend to use Arial at work, as it's easy on the eye.

Comic Sans is over-used IMO and doesn't create good impression. I wouldn't use it professionally, and in personal stuff I would only use it for children's things.

I like Trebuchet or Tahoma for letters.

mollymawk · 04/05/2008 09:10

OK, I know this is a real triviality, but I really hate comic sans when used in school newsletters etc (or anything really). I am amazed by its popularity!

LaComtesse · 04/05/2008 09:24

I like Arial for everything, varying font sizes depending on what I'm producing. I do a lot of information posters/memos for work and they have to be clear.... most of mine you can read from 50 yards off .

Anything in Comic Sans Serif gets a thumbs down from me - it's childish and hard to read. Times New Roman is bearable but doesn't always scan or email well.

Arial. Someone told me that Verdana is the one to use on cvs. Could any HR people confirm that?

RustyBear · 04/05/2008 12:30

Comic sans gets used in schools a lot because the a is formed in the same way that children write it.
At school I use Arial for official stuff, comic sans or a special cursive handwriting font for things the children will be reading or Kristen for more 'fun' items & labels for trays/pegs etc

ten10 · 04/05/2008 12:42

Verdana is a font which was specifically designed for use on screen as each letter is spaced slightly further apart than Arial or other sans serif fonts, so is the best (and most used) font for use on the internet, and is usually the default option for most interent browsers.

Arial or Helvetica are usually best for printed letters or CVs for a professional look, because they are clear to read and unfussy.
Unless you are applying to a creative job in which case you might chose something different (such as Eurostile)

Comic Sans is just a crime to font choices there is no forgiveness for using this for any professional correspondence, (for childish uses only).

eidsvold · 04/05/2008 12:44

if it is for dd1 - I use the beginners alphabet which is a specialised font I had to download to the pc - script she is taught to write and I also have the cursive of it too for when she is learning cursive writing.

TheCheeseAlarm · 04/05/2008 13:00

This should be the official Mumsnet font.

I don't mind Times New Roman.
I like Arial.
I hate Comic Sans MS in any context other than Primary Schools, in fact it should be illegal to use it elsewhere.
For the DDs I like Chick and Pussycat.
From now on, though, I will be using the fanjo one, and I think that it should be the official Mumsnet font of choice.

AitchTwoCiao · 04/05/2008 14:55

you did?
