I have no milk.It has been a bad day.Car broken down had to get bus home did not get in until late.DCs only just gone to bed,and are now crashed outOther half in hospital. If I ran full pelt would this be OK?Or am I completely nuts to even contemplate it?.(Considered asking neighbours to sit in house while I dashed round but they are out)DCS are only young.AAARRGHH

could you ask your neighbours for milk?

you might even get a sympathetic ear and a cuppa!

wrinklytum · 12/04/2008 20:36

They are out, both sides, otherwise this was my initial plan.Guess its black tea then.Must remember to keep some of that horrid longlife stuff you get in cartons for just such emergencies

ring the shop and ask if they will meet you at the end of your street

Do you have friends/relatives nearby who could do a milk (and biscuit) run for you?

this is where you need an essentials takeaway service - milk, coffee, fried egg sandwiches...

Mumcentreplus · 12/04/2008 20:39

The amount of time you're spending here getting our approval you could have gone to the shop & back!..lol

Kif · 12/04/2008 20:42

i keep loads in my freezer - it's the most galling thing to run out of because there isn't really a substitute.

D'you think it would work to order a chinese and offer the rider a tip if he gets milk for you on the way? A bit cheeky really!

wrinklytum · 12/04/2008 20:45

I think I shall just have to have black tea and go in the morning.I would never forgive myself if anything happened.....

I'm frequently that far from the house whilst still in the garden. The difference is the DCs would know I was feeding the animals, pull boots on over their pyjamas and come and find me! So I won't judge you if you do.

I usually keep a plastic 1 pint bottle in the freezer for emergencies.

Your neighbours might be back soon - keep twitching the curtains.

Kif · 12/04/2008 20:47

You could try to milk you cat.. has she recently delivered?

wrinklytum · 12/04/2008 20:48

LOL at Kif,both my cats are male,so no luck there

"Milk your cat" - that is something Richard Herring would do! Ewwwww!

cupsoftea · 12/04/2008 20:49

lilyloo · 12/04/2008 20:51

ring taxi and get them to get you some ?

TrinityTheProgressingRhino · 12/04/2008 20:53

yeah I reckon taxis would do that for you
but I've never had the guts to do it

WallOfSilence · 12/04/2008 20:55

Do you have to cross any roads?

Could you phone the shop & see if any of the assistants is willing to gather the stuff & have them ready when you arrive?

My bil does it for beer when he can't be arsed going to shop !
Might be quite expensive though but i couldn't leave my dc's or drink black tea so would have no choice!
Have you not got any wine in ?

TheCoderator · 12/04/2008 20:56

well how far is it

QuintessentialShadows · 12/04/2008 20:56

Milk in your tea is more important than the safety of your kids?
You cant be serious?
You just want to chat, not get somebody to say "yes, by all means leave your kids alone and go shopping".

Do you have any formula in the house? A friend would in emergency make up formula for tea.

Mumcentreplus · 12/04/2008 20:58

a Taxi would.. I know a woman who gets her local cab service to pick up the odd bottle of wine for her from the Offy..so I'm sure they would do it for milk too

TrinityTheProgressingRhino · 12/04/2008 20:58

and if you are breastfeeding, you could use that
dh says its too sweet for his tastes but.....
