Family fall out- cancelling baby 1st birthday

Hi all
Advice needed.
Recently had a family fall out and it's babies first birthday in 2 weeks. We had a venue booked but now I want to cancel as it's the second event for baby which has been ruined by bd family.

Long story short- my sister made a comment over how food was being served. Which was then quashed as my sister and sister in law started to quibble and both wanted the last word. The sister in law then came up to my face and then shouted if more people helped there would be more food. We had already at this point asked if we can help but was told no room.

Anyway this then led to me loosing my temper and raising my voice to her and everyone heard. I have since apologied via text but she has not yet apologied to me for triggering me. I have also acknowledged my behaviour

Bd still wants to do birthday party- I no longer part of his family after the way they have treated me. (Have missed parts)

Thought to go ahead or no!

What is a BD?
just hold the party. You all sound about the right mentality for a kids party…

I don't think any of you should be allowed out in public until you can behave properly.

100% agree

You should all stop shouting and arguing.
While you can't control how other people behave you can decide how you will react to things.
Some people live for this shit. Don't be one of them.

Thank you.
Actually it's the first time I shouted. And instantly regretted it. Just felt like it was the only should would shut up. But at the same time ruined my baby's event.

The party is for your child, so I would carry on as planned.

But in future, don’t invite anyone that you don’t get on with.

Are you in a relationship with the dad?

IceWhites · 25/01/2024 20:14

What in the Jeremy Kyle? And you’ve booked a venue for a first birthday? God hope it includes a boxing ring by the sound of it

StarlightLime · 25/01/2024 20:14

Why are you thanking posters telling you this is an abysmal way to behave?
You're right there in the thick of it, op. As bad as any of them.

Just have a small family birthday and it will be less stress and hassle. All that drama too much and could not handle it. Enjoy the special day and hope you all make up.

You never answered that.

@aniluap1

The family isn't 30 of you. The reply said small family', so this means just the family that live in your home.

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/01/2024 20:27

Stop creating venues for Fight Club. Don't hire a venue. Have cake and tea at home for a couple of people.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/01/2024 20:28

BD aka Baby dad

That's a new one and I've been on mn for maybe 17/18yrs

Why not call his your oh bf dp or dh

Depending what relationship you are in with the dad

Have the party at home - be less stressful.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 25/01/2024 20:30

Just immediate family as it sounds like it will be like Shameless if you have the whole family. Post photos if you do. Really just do low key or else it will escalate and not about your little one's day at all.

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 25/01/2024 20:30

I'd just go somewhere nice with your partner and the baby, steer clear of them for now and definitely don't mix your Dsis and SIL!

2Old2Tango · 25/01/2024 20:37

Baby, mum and dad and grandparents - that's a small family party. You don't have to invite the warring siblings or their partners.

Your baby won't remember a big venue with catering etc, so no point doing it for the first birthday. Though in todays world it's often about the Insta photos and likes I suppose.

surreygirl1987 · 25/01/2024 20:37

It's possible that the baby's father isn't her 'boyfriend' etc though?

What is the baby’s father thinking about all of that?
