I have intentionally ignored the Middle Class because most people put them selves into this category. Filthy rich or Filthy poor has negative connotations that's why I am interested how many people openly identify them selves as either poor or rich.

Working class means different things to different people. A lot of people do not think of working class as 'poor', they just think it means working for a living.

I would think of working class as more blue collar or manual type jobs. But everyone seems to have a different definition of it, so you won't get an easy answer. I have met doctors and architects who identify as working class, for example.

Richest people I know who are very middle/upper class send kids to a grammar, because it is more advantageous for job prospects in modern day.

In fairness, she says: could afford to send, but choose not to

Thanks you everyone for your answers, it's very interesting to see so many different views.
I am sorry again if I offended someone. It was just an example of negative perception of the class spectrum.
As a foreigner I am fascinated by the British class system.

I'm neither. Certainly not upper class very few people are actually upper class.
I was born into a working class family. But now in terms of education, profession lifestyle, interests etc I am firmly middle class.

I'd say the largest MN demographic was working class. You're only middle class if you send, or could afford to send but choose not to, your kids to private school. In my book anyway.

That isn't the definition of middle class. I would say my most of the middle clases would send their children to state schools.

Wikipedia actually explains it really well and how small the Upper Class really is. The abolition of hereditary peers is shrinking it further because that lot need to work harder to maintain their actual influence.

All you need to understand OP is that in Britain Rishi Sunak is not considered Upper Class, despite his elite education, elite marrriage and No 1 top job. As he was born middle, he stays upper middle. Although he is now international elite. I am not really sure how the British Upper Classes currently view the International Elite and vice versa. I have noticed that some Uppers now send their DC to Yale or Harvard (if clever enough) to mix and be more worldly. We shall see.
