For today its

emory boards

GillianMcPoo · 05/03/2008 14:47

I am convinved that The Borrowers really do exist. What were their names? One of them was Eggletina..

eternalstudent · 05/03/2008 14:47

I've given up on the great sock exodus, I think they are fleeing the house to escape some terrible fate.

The odd ones are good dusters, you can put your hand in 'em and everything.

frasersmummy · 05/03/2008 15:06

all the same stuff goes missing in this house.... teaspoons socks, tupperware lids etc...

Does anyone else suffer from "but I just had the thing a minute ago" syndrome. Where you know your keys were your hand 2 secs before but it takes you a further 30 mins to reolcate them ?

DualCycloneCod · 05/03/2008 15:07

our female kitten

i htink she has the power to dissolve

DoubleBluff · 05/03/2008 15:26

My DH disappears for hours when he goes to the toilet.
I think he enters a parallel universe.

mistlethrush · 05/03/2008 15:34

DB - I forgot about that one. We too have the same strange disappearing act. It's really strange. We both come in from work having picked up ds on way. If I'm going out, I get tea for ds and me while dh changes then disappears into parallel universe until I shout that I'm going and he'll have to sort ds's pudding out. If he's going out, I get tea for ds and me, he changes and disappears, then goes out. Something rather . Similar story in morning - somehow, I can get ds up, have a shower, get dressed, get breakfast for ds and myself and then dh has managed to get dressed and disappear - he still has to walk dog and have a shower. Will really have to start ds playing violin every morning to make best use of the regular wait!

itchymum · 05/03/2008 15:50

everyone knows missing socks are reincarnated as wire coat hangers.
there are always 10 million wire coat hangers and single socks chez nous.

car keys
lighters
sellotape
remotes
coasters-dh swaers they are being eaten
computer files onwhich ourlives depend
library books-but onlythe daythey are due

DiscoDizzy · 05/03/2008 15:52

Bottle of port which just disappeared over christmas - we def didn't drink it.
Pair of candlesticks off the mantelpiece. Have no idea where they went.
Some forms that I needed to send to mobile phone company to get all my money back

Spillage21 · 05/03/2008 16:08

Maidamess · 05/03/2008 19:15

Yes to sellotape. And nail scissors. And my really sharp scissors that I can't live without. And my husbands freekin mobile, and my dd's front door key.

And weirdly, one thing thats gone ,never to return , is the blue enamel bucket that doubled as a bin in the kids bathroom. I reckon the builders used it as a portable pissoir.

PhoenixCymru · 05/03/2008 20:01

Does any one else ever have things that seem to multiply or just appear? Every 6 months I go through the cupboards for items past their sell by date, and every time i find things from at least a year ago! Anyone else find that?
Oh and I always lose nail clippers, socks, scissors and sewing needles.

spongecake · 05/03/2008 21:02

can't find a pair of even if put away in pair of
baby socks
my socks

however...
dh socks never go missing, unfortunately
firelighters -the box is always empty

ratbunny · 05/03/2008 21:13

bloody hell, I read the title as 'odd things that varnish' and had images of you lot all varnishing random household items...

but to answer op -
radiator keys
cups
important paperwork
and (when I was smoking) lighters. now I don't smoke they are bloody everywhere.

Eulalia · 05/03/2008 22:17

In the last couple of days I have lost the tea caddy and my mobile phone. I know both are in the house somewhere, well obviously the tea is .... and yes to just about everything else said above.

Wotz · 05/03/2008 22:30

match box

I don't keep them with the candles obviously.....
as I worry about fire (dcs and all)
then when there is a power cut I can't find them

OP posts:
whoops · 05/03/2008 22:34

DD's socks!
ANd my bag with my driving licence in it's vanished but how des a big bag with a folder etc vanish?

scaryteacher · 06/03/2008 07:33

DSs socks with monotonous regularity, and when we were on holiday in Germany last year, his Game Boy disappeared. We searched everywhere in the apartment for it, and we knew that it hadn't been out of his bedroom, so this was weird. The next day, there it was...spooky...in a place we had searched several times. My earrings go as well, and my canteen of cutlery has vanished into the ether...I know it was packed when we moved 18 months ago, but no sign of it now.

throckenholt · 06/03/2008 07:48

many of the above - my purse, car keys, library books (but only on the due date), and the nit comb - found it after about 2 weeks in one of the kids trouser pockets

Tutter · 06/03/2008 07:49

i assume someone has already answered "libido"...?

Ineedacleaner · 06/03/2008 07:58

Teaspoons
Forks
The childrens cups

Add ds red book have not seen if for at least a year and I have no idea where it has gone.
I also lost DH's certificate for his job he needs it if he wants to get a new one and I lost it couldn't find it for weeks and weeks searched the whole house. At the weekend I opened my living room curtains and it was sat on the windowsill not a clue how I never spotted it before.

TheDullWitch · 06/03/2008 10:42

Dessert spoons. We had maybe 15, now there are 4. And I hate eating cereal with a soup spoon!

mcfee · 06/03/2008 10:53

My DH thinks our key for bleeding the radiator has disappeared but I accidentally hoovered it up a couple of months ago!

soph28 · 06/03/2008 12:30

What is it with the single socks??? I have a bag of about 50 single baby socks. I bought myself some nice new socks a few months ago and wore them about twice before they all disappeared.

Also the tupperware lids
tweezers
nail clippers
hair clips
dc's cutlery

used to be dummies but now that we don't need them we have about 10 in the cupboard!

and I also have a DH that disappears to the toilet for ages!C

Chocolate disappears pretty quickly too
