Convo on Radio 4 this afternoon about sanpro - woman heading some trade association or something for absorbent disposable sanpro manufacturers said we absolutely did want scented towels and tampons.

She said she and her daughter would have trouble living for a week each month without disp sanpro

So, from this scientific study, I would say she was wrong...!

Hideous. The whole 'feminine hygiene' thing repulses me.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 01/03/2008 18:34

I once bought scented liners by accident and they were awful!

One woman was complaining how she was in her 50s, has worked all her life and her young grand daughter can't manage without her scented pads.

LynetteScavo · 01/03/2008 18:36

I would NEVER use a scented tampon FFS!

I can imagin scented pads semlling nice, anyway. Air freshener in y'er knickers/ No Thanks!

MrsBadger · 01/03/2008 18:37

this is classic marketing misinterpretation

like when Volkswagen surveyed Golf owners and found lots of them said they would rather have a bigger car. So they redesigned the the Golf and made it bigger.
What the drivers actually meant was they'd like to be able to afford a Passat.

The women the sanpro companies surveyed will have ticked a box that says 'I don't want people to think I smell', not a box that said 'please perfume my fanjo'

Blandmum · 01/03/2008 18:37

God no! Why??????

Lets make women feel ashamed about a perfectly naturall occurance, shall we?

My (sligtly insane) mother told me when my periods started that I should always make a point of buying san towels in the week because it was less likely that a man would be in the shop at the time.

I mean, heaven forbid that a man should find me buying cotton wool products!

2happy · 01/03/2008 18:43

Altogether, now - whoah bodyfoooorm, bodyformed for yoooooou!

filthymindedvixen · 01/03/2008 18:44

FFS. just wash! And wear clean pants! Mingers...

MascaraOHara · 01/03/2008 18:46

I would never use scented - urgh!!

IU didn't even like scented wet wipes for dd lol

I'm a bit funny about mixing smells.. just makes everything worse

FrannyandZooey · 01/03/2008 18:48

oh blee
scented things are usually bad enough in themselves....scented SAN PRO? yeeeeeuch

BoysOnToast · 01/03/2008 18:48

MrsBadger is right of course.

SheikYerbouti · 01/03/2008 18:49

I am assuming that women who buy scented feminine hygiene products are the same ones that have lots of teddies on their bed and wear big T-Shirts with Mickey Mouse and Betty Boop on them.

Tatties · 01/03/2008 18:49

I hate the idea of scented pads, and tampons - well just no. WHY on earth would you want to use a scented tampon?!

I love the fact that I can totally bypass the sanpro aisles

PrincessHunker · 01/03/2008 19:20

I used to have a T-shirt with Betty Boop on it.

When I was 12. Which, incidentally was when I started menstruating. Wonder if there's a link? Betty Blob? [whimsical]

LynetteScavo · 01/03/2008 19:22

i am imagining women sniffing tampons just before they insert them.

Kimi · 01/03/2008 19:24

Women want thrush and UTIs then

nickytwotimes · 01/03/2008 19:26

Yea Gads! Scented "feminine" products turn my stomach. So does that scented loo roll yo ucan get...

AdamAnt · 01/03/2008 19:26

W T F is the point of a scented tampon? Seriously??!!

AdamAnt · 01/03/2008 19:27

2happy - ROFL

fuzzywuzzy · 01/03/2008 19:29

but wouldnt it all just end up stinking when used????
I can just about understand why the girl I work with uses scented disposable bags to bin her used san pro in, but why why why who would even be smelling the pads and tampons anyway, I thought one was meant to change and dispose, not play with it.....yeauk

LynetteScavo · 01/03/2008 19:30

" on the blob" love it !
