Can I beg you for 2mins of your time to fill in a survey for me please? I want to know how often you read a newspaper!

WallOfSilence · 26/02/2008 20:30

Please?

If you are female & between 21 & 45 would you please take two minutes & follow my link?

It is for my dissertation which is: "Through what medium does the modern woman get her news and has the production of online news made it easier for her to stay in touch with current affairs?"

here I hope this link works!!

I hope to be able to gather the results & be able to tell how often the 'modern' woman buys a paper, what type of paper, whether she spends a lot of time online, if she spends time on news sites or if she uses the net for social networking etc... I also want to know if the SAHM/WOHM spends more time catching up on current affairs or if either one feels more pressured to be up to date with current affairs.

There are 2 questions the survey wouldn't add (Or I would have had to pay for it!!) so if you lot don't mind I could post them here & collect the results?

I'd appreciate the help!

Go do it NOW!!

WOS is lovely and deserves you doin it for her

PuppyMonkey · 26/02/2008 20:34

Did it!

fryalot · 26/02/2008 20:34

done, but question 8 was "do you work from home" so I put "no"

question 9 was "if so, what is your job" and it wouldn't let me finish the survey until I had put something in there.

Anyway, it's done.

To answer the additional questions - I spend a couple of hours reading the paper, then I have to check the news channels, then I watch the news at 1 on BBC, then the 6 o'clock news, then the 10 o'clock news... just in case something has happened that I have missed.

Not sure if it's because I'm a SAHM, dp never seems particularly bothered, but I suspect that is because he knows I will tell him if he needs to know something. I don't feel pressured to be up to date, I just get antsy if I don't know

IdrisTheDragon · 26/02/2008 20:36

Have completed the survey - it went on to page 2 but there were no questions there? Am happy to answer questions on here as well though .

Milliways · 26/02/2008 20:36

Done!

But Q9 demands an answer even if Q8 is NO..

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 26/02/2008 20:36

um, did I miss where you are hiding the extra questions?

WallOfSilence · 26/02/2008 20:38

aww bum, I wonder if I can change that one then... wasn't thinking! I should just have put yes or no shouldn't I? I will see if I can edit that one.

The other 2 Qs are:

  1. Do you read a paper

a) Daily

b) Weekly

c) Biweekly

d) Monthly

e) Other (please state)

  1. What makes you pick up a paper?

a) The picture

b) The headline

c) To enable you to catch up on news

d) so you will have current affairs to discuss with others

e) other (please state)

WallOfSilence · 26/02/2008 20:40

Yeah page 2 messed me about...I thought I could add more questions...then the bugger tried to charge me $19.99

Oooh I have 1 more Q actually... (I can print this thread out & add all answers)

done

MissingMyHeels · 26/02/2008 20:42

Done! I am on mat leave but when I was at work I definitely knew more about current affairs, mainly because I have to and also free london papers on the tube etc. Since being at home I will probably catch the news once a day either online or TV and feel no pressure to read/watch more than that.

WallOfSilence · 26/02/2008 20:44

Argh it won't let me edit that Q as it already has results! Will figure it out when I'm done!

WallOfSilence · 26/02/2008 20:45

Thanks all. I can use all of this in my project. I'm really excited about it!

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 26/02/2008 20:49

okay

  1. daily. (it's a skim)

  2. umm... I read the paper because it's something quick and easy to read and my brain is too fried for anything deeper. I have the radio on all day because otherwise I feel horribly isolated, and the news just kind of goes in my ears. I skim Australian news online because we are moving there at the end of the year and I feel I should know something about what they're up to these days.

  3. radio is primary source (Radio 4 on all day!), then newspaper, then online. But I still find that I barely know any of what's going on. Mainly because I don't care. (And I cannot tell you how many of my former colleagues that statement would kill off .)

Hulababy · 26/02/2008 20:49

no, only online

  1. What makes you pick up a paper?

To enable you to catch up on news

motherinferior · 26/02/2008 20:51

Why can't women over 45 fill it in? Not being huffy and all, but won't I count as 'modern' when I turn 45 in June? Is Blu Un-Modern? And Cam?

schneebly · 26/02/2008 20:51

done

SenoraPostrophe · 26/02/2008 20:54

11: c
12: the headline, or maybe just the fact that I want to read a paper .
13 - all of the above.
