I've tried it and it just looks crap. Have them done professionally.

lionbeast · 22/02/2008 22:08

hi cornsilk
really, i thought maybe as i was doing them black it would be harder to f@@@ up iykwim!

what sort of shoes did you dye and what kind of dye did you use, if you don't me asking

I did a pair of nubuck pumps. They were stone coloured but got dirty after a few wears. I tried to dye them brown but it was crap and it ran when they got wet!

lionbeast · 22/02/2008 22:45

oh dear, not a good look lol

did you use dylon too?

OP posts:
cornsilk · 23/02/2008 09:40

yes dylon.

TillyScoutsmum · 23/02/2008 09:43

I tried to dye my ivory silk wedding shoes black with dylon... They went a sort of dirty grey colour and were uneven. I'm not the most "arty" person though and they're now my dsd's favourite dressing up shoes

Go professional

lionbeast · 23/02/2008 13:27

OP posts:
lionbeast · 23/02/2008 18:42

well,im quite shocked,
they have come out fantastic !
i dyed them for double the time and they have turned out jet black and look great!
they look like a brand new pair of shoes

i really thought id buggered them up when they first went in the dye tub.and turned navy

although i really hope it doesn't rain next weekend !

now im thinking of dying my old wedding dress too! its no big meguirange type thing its, staight across the top with a fish tail skirt, could get away with wearing it, to a ball, or a very fancy do,

although the only problem is, i never get invited to anything fancy like balls. and it may look a little ott for pizza express lol

TillyScoutsmum · 23/02/2008 20:40

well done ! Will know what to do for next time

Dye the dress and then tell dp/dh that you NEED to be taken somewhere posh to wear it

lionbeast · 23/02/2008 22:07

hi tilly think im going to, ive told dh yoiu said he must take me somewhere really nice.
he said he'd love to, but where?
which i couldn't really think of anywhere

OP posts:
lionbeast · 23/02/2008 22:08

also i can't decide what colour to go for?

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 23/02/2008 22:12

If he can run to a weekend away and he's feeling flush go here Tis gorge and its black tie for dinner

lionbeast · 23/02/2008 22:16

hi tilly thanks for the link, dh is sitting on th sofa next to me, he said yeah we can go there if you want to

any other suggestions, while hes in a good mood, lol

what colour do you think i should go for ?

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 23/02/2008 22:16

on - I reckon Black as well... Likely to get much more wear out of it

lionbeast · 23/02/2008 22:18

lol dh has just asked me if im going to wear my tiara as well lol

OP posts:
lionbeast · 23/02/2008 22:22

yes i was thinking maybe black too

mmm i was thinking maybe black dark emerald green or deep red.

although i hope dyeing my wedding shoes black, isnt a bad omen or something lol!

dh just said he thinks i look nice in baby blue and pink! what a ninny !!

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 23/02/2008 22:23

Loads of balls here (ooo err missus) balls

TillyScoutsmum · 23/02/2008 22:25

emerald green sounds gorgeous... I must admit I used to go to a lot of balls (for work) and nearly everyone wore black so a different colour might be nice...

Hmmmm - decisions decisions. What material is the dress ?

lionbeast · 23/02/2008 22:30

lol thanks for the link, ive got dark brown hair, medium skin tone if that helps choose the colour a bit more? its silk

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 23/02/2008 22:33

Black is the "safe" option but you can buy a LBD anytime can't you ? I reckon go for the green

lionbeast · 23/02/2008 22:36

mmm maybe green would be a nice inbetween as red is obviously bright and quite attention grabbing, black would perhaps help tone the dress down, and im less likely to bugger it up when dyeing...well i hope lol

but green is lovely
but then maybe id be more likely to wear it if it was black as it may not be quite so stand out iykwim?

thanks for listening to me prattle on lol
