Friday, 4.02pm

cornsilk · 06/02/2008 19:04

Some time tomorrow, probably afternoon. Then the engineer will have to order the parts and will eventually fix it a few days later.

katz · 06/02/2008 19:04

they can try but there would be no one home! the guy on the phone says that they work through the night, some how i don't believe them.

DH mightly peed off as he has been stuck in all day waiting

What area do you live in? British Gas have been at my house for over 4 hours today so they might have not made it to you yetand I am still without heat and hot water for the second day

PandaG · 06/02/2008 19:07

happy to do a load or 2 if you need it Katz - on your behalf though.

Chloe55 · 06/02/2008 19:07

Oh and this is the 5th call out in as many weeks - Get ready for the longhaul!

katz · 06/02/2008 19:08

chloe if your in yorkshire then i hate you! if not then i hope he can fix it ASAP! we're on day 3 of no heat or hot water and the house is now sooo cold i think i can see my breathe!

katz · 06/02/2008 19:09

thanks PandaG, will bear it in mind if he doesn't show up! could you bundle up a bag or of heat that would be good right now!

OP posts:
PandaG · 06/02/2008 19:11

you can come and bath the DDS here too if that would help? could lend you a fan heater - any good?

katz · 06/02/2008 19:12

girls in bed, wrapped up snug but thanks.

Fan heater would be really good, if no gas guy soon will send DH round to borrow it, if thats ok.

Sorry katz - that's what happened last time our boiler broke down. Engineer then had to phone his mate who relayed over the phone how to fix it as he had never fixed one like ours before. ( a combi boiler - very rare) Have you tried phoning them up repeatedly saying 'Get someone out here to fix my boiler NOW!'

Chloe55 · 06/02/2008 19:19

Erm....yep I am !!!!

katz · 06/02/2008 19:20

is he still there? are you in Sheffield?

OP posts:
Chloe55 · 06/02/2008 19:22

He left about 6.30pm and I'm in Huddersfield - I'm pretty sure he was going home though as he said that he couldn't think straight anymore and needed to go home and clear his head. His supervisor also came out for a couple of hours today as they are no closer to fixing it.

katz · 06/02/2008 19:25

oh no, hopefully not the guy due to do my boiler then. Huddersfield one heopfully not doing Sheffield too!

hey if your locaish you might be interested in this spa meet up

Thanks for the link Katz, I had noticed it a couple of times and it looks fab but at the moment we are about as skint as we have ever been so most things are a no-go at the moment

katz · 06/02/2008 19:30

never mind, maybe next time.

well what a suprise, no phone call back and no engineer. Phoned them back and at some point this evening our case was put on hold! great, he can offer me a slot tomorrow between 12 and 6! He said if i had a contract with them as in one of pay monthly things then he might have been able to get someone to me, oh i got angry about that, they either offer a one of call out service or they don't.

lesson learnt today do not use British Gas they are pants!

OP posts:
Chloe55 · 06/02/2008 20:41

Ah you see Katz, I do pay the one off payment as we have been having problems for a while and knew it would work out worthwhile. A bit shitty though that they have had you waiting all day and then won't give you a definite time considering you too, are without heat and water. My guy is back out to us againg tomorrow morning and he reckons he could be here all day again

Chloe55 · 06/02/2008 20:42

I meant the contract monthly payments, not one off!!

katz · 06/02/2008 20:57

its soo annoying. i was about to take out boiler cover, probably still will once this is fixed but no way will it be with British Gas.

have now managed to borrow a fan heat (thanks PandaG) and DH is going to pick up a radiator after he gets back from the gym.

OP posts:
cornsilk · 06/02/2008 21:58

We do pay monthly for boiler cover but they are still pants at coming out and fixing it.
