Aww voodoo, how are you doing? Was just thinking about you. I am a crotchety old boot and have no excuse.

worley · 09/05/2008 22:48

good god, watching the jonathon ross show, jonny vegas looks so differnt he must have lost about 5 stone!! hes just as funny though!!
wish i could lose weight like him though

JennsterSlugSlayer · 10/05/2008 07:08

But you hardly have as much to lose as JV Worley! It's easy to lose a stone when you need to lose 5. Talking of which I am down to 11st10. 10 to go!

We both fell asleep on the sofa last night before Johnathon Ross even started. I am SO tired.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 10/05/2008 21:08

Picked dd up Sunday lunchtime.
Absolute heaven to lie in on a Sunday

Well I got loads done yesterday.

I didn't know I needed red peep-toe wedge shoes until I tried them on and fell in love with them. I also bought some sensible work shoes.

Nearly new sale on Saturday I bought dd a lovely wool stripey zipped hooded cardigan, ds got a winter coat and some romper suits for when we are on holiday in 7 weeks and counting! All for the grand sum of £4.50.

Peas got planted in ground, sowed some borlotti beans and climbing beans along the fence near the raised beds where I put up a bean net this year. Peppers, courgettes, tomatoes and aubergines are doing very well. I took some wall flower cuttings, some vinca cuttings and had a go at planting some seed from a fatsia. No idea if they will germinate or doing anything but you never know. It is my mission this year to only propagate, split and grow from seed to save money.

dp's birthday today. luckily gta4 arrived last week in time, he got some smellies, a danger mouse mug and a necklace he wanted (im normally anti men wearing necklaces but i though, hes gone on about it for so long i may as well just buy it for him). we were going to have a bbq later if the weather stays nice and ds1 picked him a racing car cake from tesco.

i feel a bit sad as his brother didnt even send him a card, an email or ring, nothing. {well not soo much sad just angry)and its his first birthday without his mum too.

i've got 2 lots of vinca growing in the front garden. Next doot used to have a row of conifers and nothing would grow there as it was so shady and they hogged all the soil goodness i suppoose so i put a couple of those in along the drive way and they have soon spread!! i have a nice deep green leaf with purple flowers and a varigated leaf with pink and white stripe leafs. they are trying to take over the rest of the garden too so have to keep cutting them back now.
plus next door nolonger have the conifers and they are growing up through their garden too!!!

OP posts:
JennsterSlugSlayer · 13/05/2008 14:55

My vincas are yellow and green varigated trailing, and vinca minor both with blue flowers. Would love some taller ones though.

VoodooCoconut · 13/05/2008 19:38

wish I knew about flowers. Can you recommend something cheap and that grows fast for a very shady part of my garden? either a little bushy thing or a low level creeping thing. Thanks X

JennsterSlugSlayer · 13/05/2008 21:25

Nasturtiums. Just push the seeds under the soil. You can get some lovely dark red flowers with redish green leaves Empress of India Now you can get climbing red and yellow ones too. Dirt cheap. Right time to plant and grows really quickly, for autumn early winter flowers.

Ceanothus (Californian Lilac) Is beautiful. Evergreen plant with lovely blue flowers. You can get low growing (30cm) or high ones (2m). Won't grow from seed, but will be flowering in garden centres now.

Ajuga reptans Lovely Purple leaves, creeping and spreading plant. Gorgeous blue spikes of flowers. very low growing. Flowering right now under trees and things.

Macdog · 14/05/2008 08:34

The only thing flourishing in my garden at moment is rhubarb, waist high it is!!

Got baby fishes in my trop tank, not sure if they're guppies or mollies. At moment they look like commas!

Been watching the ospreys at Loch of the Lowes, Scottish Wildlife Trust CAM 1.
Now that's reality TV!!!

worley · 14/05/2008 14:09

oooh thanks Jenn. may have run out to garden centre tomorrow..
threw up cleaning my teeth this morning! yuck.
Hip is agony, awful and strikes worse when I stand at the kitchen sink..wonder why? I must go into a strange 'washing up' position...

JennsterSlugSlayer · 14/05/2008 19:44

Bet you stand with one foot taking most of your weight, with your hips tilted. My counter and sink are 4inches higher than most peoples and it still isn't high enough for me to stand up straight. My posture is dreadful.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 14/05/2008 19:46

Mmmmmm rhubarb crumble. (but with icecream)

Am starving. Have eaten already, but ate it so quickly, it didn't hit the sides.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 14/05/2008 19:47

Actually no. Custard would be ok too. It's not too hot right now so yes custard please.

Macdog · 14/05/2008 19:49

Am now a football widow
dh glued to the faffin' telly, without so much as a kindly word in my direction.
at least dd off to snoozyland without a fuss

JennsterSlugSlayer · 14/05/2008 20:00

Where I work was absolutely clogged with pissed up Glaswegians at about 11am. They hardly set a glowing example to the rest of Europe. Apparently all Manchester Hotels were fully booked, so they all went to Blackpool and were going to get the train in. I work half way between Blackpool and Preston and they all demanded the bus driver stop at a pub so they could piss. Delayed the bus by 15 minutes and all the old ladies were petrified.

VoodooCoconut · 14/05/2008 20:28

dh worked in London today and said it was full of Russians! I too am football widow. Just started anti-Auntie Mabel thread. Cant stand that old bag.
