Following on from the babysitting thread, I'm curious to find out what time your kids go to bed, and if it's earlier in the UK than here in the US in general?

My two (aged 5 and 2.5) usually go around 7:15. This is considered pretty early though around here. I would say that most of the kids in the neighborhood go to bed at 8 or 8:30 at the earliest, even on a school night.

Slink · 28/11/2004 19:18

Now dd is over tired and playing up but would be be asleep by know bye need to get her back in bed xxx

bonkerz · 28/11/2004 19:20

my ds has always been in bed by 6pm and used to watch a video before falling asleep by 6.30. Now hes at school he gets to stay up till 6.30 then goes to his bed and reads his library book to daddy and is generally asleep by 7pm. I do on a Saturday though try and get him into bed for 6pm!!!! Im really lucky that ds has always been excellent about going to bed and loves his sleep. He always sleeps in till 7 - 7.30!!!!

WigWamBam · 28/11/2004 19:20

My 3.5yo dd goes to bed at around 7.15 - 7.30.

turquoise · 28/11/2004 19:21

Mine go much earlier than their classmates - 7.30 on a school night for dd (6), 8.30 for ds (9). They are allowed to read/listen to a story tape for about 20 minutes though, and go half an hour to an hour later on friday and saturday.

They can't have children's tv after 8 though - there's only so much Spongebob a person can stand!

Donbean · 28/11/2004 19:27

Yep, mine too. 7-7.30 every night, always has.
Dont know if this is too early, dont care if it is, he and we are ready for it at that time. KWIMx

8 to 8.30 here. Dh doesn't get home til 7.30 and he likes to do stories

clairabelle · 28/11/2004 19:42

Any time between 6.30 and 7.00 for dd 5, and then stories. Asleep by 7.30. Ds 12m 6.00-6.30, they are usually both up early so are ready for bed by these times.

I think there are a lot more family friendly type places in the US that welcome kids. That doesn't stop us when we're in the UK though. I'll take my kids to almost any restaurant, as long as it's not really, really stuffy. Having said that, it's often much more pleasant to go without them!

Two oldest (8 and nearly 7) go to bed at 8 or, if before, are allowed to read/talk until 8.
Two youngest (4 and 21 months) go to bed at 7:30. Having said that, it is 7:50 and they are still up! Whoops!

Twiglett · 28/11/2004 19:53

DS 3.9 bedtime is 7.20 upstairs (after Maggie and the Ferocious Beast ) for bath, then 20 minutes computer stories / games then bed stories and sleep by about 8ish .. but he has always gone to bed at 8

DD (6 months) goes to sleep at 6pm .. because she wants to

pupuce · 28/11/2004 19:53

7PM for my 5 and 3 yo.... no problem...

MarsLady · 28/11/2004 19:57

DS1 (12y) 9pm, DD1 (10y) 8pm, DD2 (6y) 7pm, DTs (9mo)as soon after 7pm as we can get them down. Though lately anytime before midnight would be good.

redshoes · 28/11/2004 19:58

My dds (4 and 2) both go to bed at 7pm too...

warmmum · 28/11/2004 19:58

All in bed by 6.45 so that I don't explode. Also by that stage of the evening there is a large glass with my name on it. Also dd1 gets so tired from school and because she shares a room with dd2 they wake each other in the night.

colinsmommy · 28/11/2004 19:58

Looks like it might be later here by this thread, Kate. DS (15 mo) goes to bed at 8 to 8:30 depending on how tired he is. Mostly 8:30, though.

WideWebWitch · 28/11/2004 19:58

1 yo and 7 yo both go about 7.30pm although 7yo will play in his room for an hour and I don't mind as long as he's quiet and doesn't come downstairs.

KateandtheGirls · 28/11/2004 20:05

Colin's Mommy, looks like you might be right that it's usually later here.

Dd1 goes to bed at 8pm, dd2 at 7.30pm, recently moved to these times about four months ago, previously were 7.30 and 7.15 but it was too early. Sometimes let them stay up a bit later at the w/e but not by much.

Miaou · 28/11/2004 20:06

DD1 is 7, dd2 is 6 btw.

Hulababy · 28/11/2004 20:19

DD is 2y 7m and her bedtime is around 7:30pm. At weekends we are more lax though and it can be later, especially if grandparents are babysitting Then, I just don't ask!
