i have an ikea large landscaped canvas of some flowers and then i have canvas pics we've done of my ds. You can do great things with picture art!

lucyellensmum · 09/01/2008 21:09

i have a clay modelled indian blanket i bought from a craft fair. I have an indian blanket i bought from a shop in the lake district. I have two pictures of horses (but they are not on the wall yet) and i have some cats made out of wool (not on the wall).

I have half a roll of wallpaper with DDs art on it, and some snowflakes made by me and DD. Thats the best stuff.

Also waiting to go up are some paintings done by DD1 at art college.

lucyellensmum · 09/01/2008 21:10

oh and lots of "art" done in a graffiti stylee by DD1, all over every wall in the house

constancereader · 09/01/2008 21:13

Some samplers, all old. Lots of water colours bought by my dh at auctions etc.

I have just counted the pictures in our living room and there are 22.

I have an obsessive collector for a dh.

In the living room we have :

  • a long, narrow frame with 7 different images of trees (some painted, some printed, some photos so all very different). We bought it from a gallery last year after falling in love with it.
  • a "canvas" (piece of interesting, bold print fabric)stretched over a frame that I made
  • a painting of the children
loler · 09/01/2008 21:25

We've got (other than scribble), a couple of Kathy Lewis prints from a last childfree weekend, a Paul Henry print, a framed poster from a vineyard we visited on our honeymoon, a few framed records (beatles and sound of music) and lots and lots of photos. I like to see things that remind me of good times, always nice to think about them when kids are screaming, house is a tip and raining outside.

Great thread - I love nosing around other peoples houses and always wonder why they have the things they do.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 09/01/2008 21:29

Several landscapes in oils and watercolour by my brother - one of them commemorates the Whitby beach where I nearly drowned while visiting him(golden memories). Also some Egon Schiele prints. Dh has a vast array of dc's art in his 'study'.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 09/01/2008 21:32

Oh and a photo in a groovy carved wooden frame - it is one I took of the spiral stairs in Monument Tower (taken at top looking down).

Anna8888 · 09/01/2008 21:34

All our pictures are stored - I don't like his (water colours in Deauville... eeeuch) and he doesn't like mine (mostly old photos).

We had one portrait of our daughter commissioned together but it still needs framing.

moljam · 09/01/2008 21:35

we have klimt print,3 beryl cook prints my sister gave my for xmas,1 painting of ds1 i did,1 oil pastel of dd ive done,a drawing of dd and ds1 a local artist did when they were babies and a lovely black and white photo of dd and ds1 at another sisters wedding.just realised ds2 isnt up in front room at all!poor baby!

Anna8888 · 09/01/2008 21:36

I'm allowed my mirror collection up though - my favourite is an English Regency peer mirror that I had restored by some gilders who do a lot of work at Versailles and they really overgilded it - totally unauthentic, but it looks beautiful.

cheeryface · 09/01/2008 21:39

mirror collection, intriguing!

Anna8888 · 09/01/2008 21:42

I love mirrors - you can play with the space and light in your house, and they are so decorative.

I bought my first as a student for £25 on Cotham Road in Bristol and it's hanging in my entrance hall.

Some I have bought and some I have inherited/begged.

A bronze printing plate of a bit of canal designed by An Ancestor

Spidermama · 09/01/2008 22:03

I have some original abstracts in biro on the stairwells by ds3.

There are also some mixed media works (paint, chocolate, felt tip) above the sofa which have been signed by, I think, DS2 but it's not completely clear so I couldn't vouch for its authenticity.

karen999 · 09/01/2008 22:24

I also have original biro works, only not on my walls - on my sofa!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/01/2008 22:26

I have some watercolours, some original prints,a portrait of my grandma and an etching and a mono print on my sitting room walls. And a framed photograph of a dog by the Thames.

loler · 09/01/2008 22:26
