need inspiration and am nosey!

A very little and lovely portrait by a friend of mine. We shared a flat just after she left art school, and she did a few portraits of me to build up her portfolio. I was a postgrad at the time and so didn't buy any. I wish I had, as she's brilliant, and now way too expensive for me! She gave me the little painting for my 30th birthday.

Oh, I shall leave you to guess... She's bloody amazing, isn't she? Whole family is really artistic - her sister and mother are also portrait painters, and her brother is a wildlife cameraman - did the cool shark stuff on Planet Earth. . Also amongst the loveliest, most unpretentious people you could hope to meet.

wow ! hang on to your heirloom - I have a portrait of my grandma painted by a friend of my parents when he was an art student - he is now quite famous as a portrait painter (he did one of the Queen) - I also have a little landscape study he did and a drawing of me as a 3 yr old.

I buy contemporary mostly abstract art by local artists here in Brighton and have about 15 now.I also have a large collection of modern and vintage mirrors.All are packed away atm as we are in rented and I miss them.I don't really like reproductions of famous paintings though I don't get those at all.Well framed photos look lovely too
