The guy who came to see our apartment last has put in an offer (a sensible one too) this afternoon, which we have accepted. He is currently sorting his mortgage, which shouldn't be an issue and wants to complete asap and hopefully before Christmas. It's a client of DH's and Dh has checked up on him with other partners in other departments, and all the signs are good in that he has bought properties before and all has gone well.

So, Dh will put in an offer on the house we saw last weekend. Hopefully all is going well

Daren't get too excited just in case...but

That's good news hulababy! Hope all goes well. Keep us posted.

LIZS · 16/11/2004 21:22

Pleased it has come through for you. Good luck, Christmas doesn't seem very long to get things done by though - is the house you want vacant ?

Hulababy · 16/11/2004 21:24

No but they have a house found and offer acceoppted on it. But that isn't an issue as we will rent our own apartment from the guy who is buying it on a short term monthly thing until we can move. Guy buying it doesn't need to move in right away as he has other properties anyway. Means we can have some overlap for decorating, etc. too

Wow. Selling to and renting from the same guy while you sort out your next house sounds perfect. Good luck with your own offer now.

Hulababy · 16/11/2004 21:50

I know jmamiesam; all seems too good and easy right now. I just hope it sn't too good to be true. So scared to get too excited!

Ooh - so exciting

Feel a bit the same as we've recently accepted an offer on our house and have offered on new house and all have been accepted.

Now there's just the waiting game

Hulababy · 16/11/2004 21:59

Ooh, good luck PiccadilyCircus Exciting and scaring too isn't it?

Gobbledigook · 16/11/2004 22:13

Oooh you jammy pair!!!

Really glad for you though - great news! Hope it all goes smoothly.

Still not a sausage on our house so taking it off the market over Xmas and back on in new year with diff. agent. Really hope we see buyer no's increasing in Jan!

Hulababy · 16/11/2004 22:15

Good luck Gobbledigook. TBH it is only because this guy is a client of DH's that he even came to look in the first place. WWorst bit is is that we now have to pay how ever much to the estate agents, but haven't even used them to find a buyer in the end. How annoying is that?!

OP posts:
Gobbledigook · 16/11/2004 22:18

ooooh, very!! Can't you get out of that? He didn't get the details from them or talk to them did he? Did they arrange the appt?

If they did nothing with respect to this guy I'd just pull it off the market and say you are fed up and then sell it privately! If they've no record of your buyer coming to see them then they can hardly ask for the commission!

lilibet · 16/11/2004 22:22

oh so for you hula!!

codswallop · 16/11/2004 22:23

this happened to the woma over hte road and they went and told the state agent this and they let them off

Hulababy · 16/11/2004 22:25

Not able to really. DH deals with our agents a lot in his work, so professionally for him it wouldn't be a good idea. Estate agents did nothing regarding this guy, but agents are aware of him as Dh chatted to them about him. Oh well.

OP posts:
codswallop · 16/11/2004 22:25

try it!

Hulababy · 16/11/2004 22:28

Oh, I am sure DH will try to swing it, but knowing the estate agents as he does he doesn't expect much!

Still excited, tentatively DH is putting in an offer on the house we like this morning. Fingers crossed.

brilliant news, so all systems go on the house in hunters bar?

DAtoys have got a great deal on a slidw wing combo!!

Hulababy · 17/11/2004 09:02

LOL Katzguk. DD has a huge list of outdoor toys she has requested! The Hunters bar house has a big wooden structure which is used as a play house - so DD loves that choice!

OP posts:
katzguk · 17/11/2004 09:03

slide swing combo even

katzguk · 17/11/2004 09:04

the details sounded great.

if you change your mind next door is still for sale is a vacant posession!! not that i'm pushy just want a young family to move in!!! then DD would have friends to play with

Hulababy · 17/11/2004 19:00

Put in offer on house today BUT bad news

It is to go to a blind bid, Friday is the deadline.

We know that there are three of us to date, amd no other viewings:

(a) us - sold out apartment and put in offer a full asking price today
(b) man1 - offer at asking price but still has property to sell
(c) man2 - put in offer of £5k under aksing price, is currently renting.

So (c) is our main competitor.

But what to do???? How much do we put in???

OP posts:
bundle · 17/11/2004 19:05

hula, not sure how to answer that...but how was the haircut????

JanH · 17/11/2004 19:06

Bid what you can afford and are happy to pay and make it an odd amount (ie not ending in 000 or 500).

If you get outbid then it wasn't meant to be, and at least you will be in the perfect position when something else comes up (as it will!)

Hulababy · 17/11/2004 19:09

bundle - hair was good.

Think is it is a good way under our budget, and in better climates it would go for much more. The house we saw round the corner in August went for £235. This one is £190. It's needs some decorating doing but not much???
