wobblyknicks · 13/11/2004 08:45

I would feel sick but I'm having leftover Chinese for brekkie so it's taking the idea of all that yuck stuff away!!!

emmatmg · 13/11/2004 08:52

WHAT

Thomcat, where on earth did you have dinner? sounds like something from Mars.....Pluto.......Uranus!

Give me Roast beef, spuds and yorkshire pud anyday.

Bloody smoked bacon and egg ICE CREAM....I'm not surprised it was rank green vomitty face.

wobblyknicks · 13/11/2004 08:54

lol @ Uranus emma!!! How much was this weird meal Thomcat - please tell me they paid YOU to eat it!!!

emmatmg · 13/11/2004 08:56

Wk, was gonna ask how it was after eating all that but thought it a tad personal for even MN!!

wobblyknicks · 13/11/2004 08:57

well for this time of the morning anyway emma, wait until after 9pm and nothing's too personal!!!

ScummyMummy · 13/11/2004 08:59

Wow, TC. My partner is desperate to go to the Fat Duck. Was it v pricey? Always meaning to take him there- everyone always says that the most bizarre combos are so yummy!

WideWebWitch · 13/11/2004 09:19

Oh I really want to go there too. Wow, sounds weird but I've read reviews too that say it's fab.

hester · 13/11/2004 09:59

Hey! Woman with morning sickness here - what do you think you are doing to me

Seriously, though; it sounds SO interesting - though a little limiting on choice for vegetarians - I've read about this place a lot and often thought how great it would be to try it out.

Here's the test: would you go back? If you were paying yourself?

MancMum · 13/11/2004 10:01

i have always wanted to eat here as Heston the chef is my culinary God - was planning to go for my 40th - so am very interested inwhat you thought - what was the restaurant like - is it worth the money - and my 40th!!?

MarsLady · 13/11/2004 10:32

Just wanted you all to know that none of that was from me (Mars), esp you emmatmg lol

marthamoo · 13/11/2004 10:35

Woman with a Hangover says....euuuuwwwwwww!

carla · 13/11/2004 10:36

White chocolate and ca .... cack? It wouldn't have surpised me. God, I steer away from all restaurants like that. Anything that has a 'jus' in it gets the thumbs down!

collision · 13/11/2004 10:48

DH went here a few years ago and loved it.

We had some clients in our restaurant a few weeks ago and they said they had been to the Fat Duck and he had paid £800 for 3 of them!! Madness. £400 was on wine!

Couldnt justify that sort of money, Im afraid.

prufrock · 13/11/2004 11:42

Ooh very jealous TC. I've wanted to go for ages. So was it good?

Demented · 13/11/2004 12:02

Sorry but I feel a bit, bleuuurgh, after reading that (I am just recovering from a tummy bug). I'm sure it must have tasted nicer than it sounds though!

moomina · 13/11/2004 12:19

Oh, the Fat Duck... you lucky thing! That's the Heston Blumenthal one, isn't it? God, I'd love to go there.

suzywong · 13/11/2004 12:25

I would be very interested to know if all the flavours were distinguishable or complentary to the whole dish or lost in the haze?

I have never tried food like that and in the back of my mind I can't help thinking it smacks of over-egging and guilding lillies.

Was it?

BTW I find the phrases 'snail porridge' and 'almond porridge' most distressing

suzywong · 13/11/2004 12:26

meant complimentary
sorry, still smarting from the almond fluid

blossomhill · 13/11/2004 12:26

Didn't you have any lunch yesterday then Thomcat?

hatter · 13/11/2004 19:22

I kind of hope that was egg white and not eye white. Even HB would balk at that wouldn't he? I've been to a not disimilar not quite as mad place in France. We had bacon and egg foam, and mushroom shortbread (which was incredible) amongst other stuff. Made me want to go the FD and I know dh would love to try it.

hatter · 13/11/2004 19:23

suzy - you did mean complementary. Complimentary food would be telling you what a nice dress you had on

Kayleigh · 13/11/2004 19:25

That sounds so revolting. Eeeeuuuggghh

miggy · 13/11/2004 20:18

I have his family food cook book-thats quite amazing. Decided never to cook anything from it after reading the "make with your kids" biscuit recipe that involved partbaking them then rolling out the hot biscuits between greaseproof paper-?
He must have the asbestos handed variety of children

handlemecarefully · 13/11/2004 22:29

I think you are very brave to eat those combinations. I am too conservative when it comes to food so probably miss out.
