Mourning my 20's :(

Only 6 days to go and I will officially be in my 30's. I have a few things lined up but to be honest do not feel like celebrating. Why do I feel so sad about not being in my 20's anymore?

I know, I know. It just feels weird that I am approaching "middle age" when I still feel 20 odd. Looking forward to next Saturday as going out with all of my friends. I shall just let my hair down and dance/drink the night away !!!!!

middle age?! 30!? OMG - I'm going for a lie down!

blossomhill · 16/10/2004 22:18

I am so much more settled now than I was 10 years ago. I have a lovely husband, 2 beautiful children and I really love my house. I can also drive, which I couldn't do then so things in general are so much more happier and settled.
Sometimes I just feel like life is going too fast. My lovely mum (who is 56) said that life does go too fast and she still feels 40. Mind you like me she is very young at heart and that's what matters isn't it?

it's only middle-aged if you plan on dying at 60

and also my mum's 67 now and I'd love to have her energy (Dad's 84 next week .. ditto)

JoolsToo · 16/10/2004 22:19

I'd like to meet your mum

blossomhill · 16/10/2004 22:19

my parent are 83 and 80 and I'm hoping they passed both lots of genes on - they're bloomin' marvellous!

marthamoo · 16/10/2004 22:20

It's just a number, when all's said and done. I think you should plan something and have a fantastic birthday!

blossomhill · 16/10/2004 22:20

joolstoo - you would she is lovely, my bestest friend in the whole world.

JoolsToo · 16/10/2004 22:21

you two sound like me and dd - its nice isn't it?

Twiglett · 16/10/2004 22:22

Jools .. she's mad .. and glaswegian ..

she does swear she's a cockney though cos she was born within the sound of bow bells .. the whole family moved to Glasgow when she was 6 months old though .. you should hear her 'och, I'ma corckney"

Twiglett · 16/10/2004 22:23

oops .. that was at blossomhill's mum wasn't it .. makes more sense that way TBH

JoolsToo · 16/10/2004 22:23

oh blimey - would I need an interpreter?

blossomhill · 16/10/2004 22:25

Joolstoo - yeah it is nice. We talk to each other at least 5 times a day! The minute I get in from dropping the kids off at school (about 9.05) I am ringing her at work. We never run out of things to say either. Mind you everyone always says I talk too much.

JoolsToo · 16/10/2004 23:21

same here - dd lives 5 mins from my work so I call every lunchtime - we email - and we telephone too - she talks, I listen!

blossomhill · 16/10/2004 23:32

That's lovely joolstoo. How old is dd? If you don't mind me asking

August next year dreaded 30! I'm mad and Glaswegian too but live in London now

blossomhill · 16/10/2004 23:35

sweetkitty - I'll let you know how I feel on Thursday. No, it's fine! I am still me! Lots of my friends are in there late 30's, early 40's and it doesn't change anything (I hope, trying to reassure myself )!

OP posts:
blossomhill · 16/10/2004 23:36

Swwetkitty - just think you have only just turned 29. Enjoy the next year

I've been thinking about this thread since yesterday. My mum's thinking of going off to do a fundraising walk for breast cancer research in Vietnam (or something similar) because she thinks she hasn't done anything of note on life. Maybe I should spend all the time I spend on mumsnet writing a bestseller
