What do you want to know?

I saw it about 12 years ago and really enjoyed it. Not sure i could tell you what it was about now though

Marina · 21/09/2007 17:08

It's a ghost story, with I think two characters dustystar? Based on a book of the same name

batey · 21/09/2007 17:09

Makes you jump!

dustystar · 21/09/2007 17:09

Thats the one I saw - just the narrator of the tale and the ghost i think. It was quite creepy

WigWamBam · 21/09/2007 17:10

I saw it about 15 years ago - it freaked me out at the time. Simple ghost story, but very atmospheric and effectively told.

I've seen it a couple of times - it's great and really scary. Seen the movie too - also really hate that bit when she's floating over the bed

yaddayah · 21/09/2007 17:34

I saw it a few years back, a lot of the audience seemed to think it was a comedy, and laughed (must admit by the end of it after necking a quick g and t in the bar (get there quick its tiny and packed) I did have a giggle too

(and if its still in the same theatre .. the ladies loo's are awful.. and the queues a mile long)

Twiglett · 21/09/2007 17:35

fabulously spooky if done well .. only 2 actors in it .. well worth it if you like goosebumps

The book was written by Susan Hill if I remember correctly. As everyone else has already said, it really was genuinely scary.

I remember the TV adaptation a few years back - and having the most appalling nightmare the same night. Ditto when I saw the stage play - even though by that time I knew the story. I hardly ever have truly paralysing, terrifying nightmares but this story set me off twice.

Roseylea · 21/09/2007 18:01

i loved it! (saw it years ago) The thing that I remember is that the actors are supposed to have a dog, and they kind of act as if a dog is really on stage...(saying "Here, boy!" etc then acting as if a dog is slobbering all over them, that sort of thing) and after a while you start filling in the blank and seeing / imagining the dog yourself.

And yes I found it scary too! I'd love to see it again.

I saw it in Birmingham many years ago. It was a small theatre and we were all sitting in sofas and armchairs around the set. It made it especially scary because "the woman" kept appearing amongst us!
Brilliant book and play. I also like her new detective books, Simon serrailler?

Amazing, have seen it twice and was just as scared the second time. Brilliant how so much tension is created with just 2 actors, no special effects to speak of and hardly any props. Fab

southeatsastras · 21/09/2007 21:12

i'm going to see it with my son and friend soon. i'm looking forward to it, it's meant to be very spooooky

gingerone · 21/09/2007 21:14

I could, but I fell asleep (honestly)

southeatsastras · 21/09/2007 21:20

ha gingerone

my bil fell asleep during west side story, it was very loud.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 21/09/2007 21:23

i saw this on tv a few years ago and it was bloody terrifying

I remember the bit where she floated over bed and another bit where the bloke is on a lake in a boat and she comes floating over the lake

aggghhhh

ruddynorah · 21/09/2007 21:24

seen it twice. terrified me both times. it's best with a good audience who carry you along.
