Scared me to death - but I loved it.

Very good (saw it when it was first put on), have read the book several times...its brill, a kind of 'one sitting' book (and tis quite short too....

A friend took his 70-odd yr old mother to see it a few years back and as it was a matinee, it was total old-lady-land in the theatre.

My mate was v. cynical about it all beforehand and 'oh, mum'll like it, no doubt I'll be bored stupid'.

But when the scary bit happened (he wouldn't tell me what it was!), he was so scared/shocked/surprised he apparently jumped out of his seat exclaiming 'oh F*!' very loudly (in this theatre full of grannies). He sat there, cringing with embarrassment that he'd sworn like that in front of his mum and others and then the old lady on the other side of him turned to him, patted his arm and said 'oh dear, are you all right, son? It's only make believe, you know'....

Think I saw it a long time ago . Has it got a rocking chair and a causeway ?

dyzzidi · 23/09/2007 11:15

I went to see it im Mce when I was pregnant with my friend. I was scared but she was petrified and declared when we came out. That was brilliant but I will never ever let you pick the show again I will not sleep for a week now'

The atmosphere was spot on and the actors fantastic.

tigerschick · 23/09/2007 11:21

I saw it about 14 years ago.
Absolutely brilliant - never been so scared in a theatre in my life!
LIZS - that's the one.

Its scarey, but great, I have seen it twice, Once in london, once the touring production.. The speakers are under the seats so you get the life scared out of you.

ds's drama teacher has warned them it will be scarey but think I will get him to read this thread lol
